Other young lady was too hung up on why it was called Belly to actually watch the movie. Also, its called Belly because they are in the Belly of the beast.
The one who watched Thin Line also kissed the plot. Its obvious Martins character was a trash guy, that quite literally the point. Its not a live story.
The young man watching Coming to America was meh. Like did you really expect Eddie Murphy to have an authentic accent? Really?

Well the African 1st generation American guy, has an excuse. Why would he like Coming to America? All he would notice is all the misconceptions, African Americans have about Africa in the film. As positive & well meaning as Coming to America is, it might still come off as corney at best, & offensive at worst, epeacully if you didn't grow up with the movie. Much love to my African diaspora (US, Brazil, Haiti, Cuba etc) & African sistas & brothas! The brotha liked James Earl Jones, you can never go wrong with Vader or Mufasa!

I will admit the girl with the big Afro & the girl with the black permed hair, were rude. They have a right to their opinions, but the girl with the perm especially, seemed to be intentionally making fun of people. Like she was aware of the cultural significance of the film, & being disrespectful in tone & word usage towards that history.

I understand being upset at their negative reactions, but their inability to relate to the culture of these times says to me they have grown up in a slightly more progressive and improved world, so I'm seeing this as a positive.

This is why they need to switch the generational years back to what they were. If you were born in 1983, for the most part, you saw all of these movies.

Im 22, I grew up with these movies in the house, so, I've seen and still currently own all of these movies except belly, I've never heard of that.
