It's almost criminal the lost potential of this expansion. Never getting a chance to see Arthas meet his little sister, raised like him under the Light. Never seeing many of our other promised realms of death, like De Otha Side (One dungeon aside) Never meeting many of our most iconic lost souls, and bringing forth a select few that arguably were not needed. (Kael, buddy, you just weren't on my list. Not like Garrosh) Never finding Varian or Cairne or any other iconic leaders, particularly those who would have mattered to our classes especially (Imagine meeting Tirion Fordring again playing as a Paladin, canonical Highlord, or a Death Knight getting to meet Arthas one more time)
That's the most frustrating part to me. There were so many characters that mattered to -our- characters. But we never found them. Never got to meet Rheastrasza, that red dragon goblin gal we helped purify and save Wrathion, or tell her that yes, Wrathion is alive and well, a rebellious punk doing more harm than good but still -trying- to be a better prince than his father. Never got to meet. Well.
My favourite questline in WoW is a small one, from Darkshire. Where you have to go roaming about this veiled countryside, slaying monstrous Worgen and beating down skeletons, the one monster looming above them all is the vile Mor'Ladim, a skeletal warrior ready to beat down any hapless adventurer. As you journey around, though, you learn the truth; that this undead monstrosity was once a man; Morgan Ladimore. A noble knight of Darkshire, he went to war alongside Uther, and came back to find his family (A wife and kids) missing. told only he'd find them in the nearby cemetery. There, he indeed found tombstones for his wife and two of his children, among many friends and family. And in his grief and rage, lashed out at grave attendants who tried to calm him. Horrified by his murderous lashing out, he drew a dagger on the spot and took his own life. Only to raise from the dead sometime later, a revenant of grief and self-loathing. Yet even in his most monstrous form, Mor'Ladim, he uses both the abilities Enraging Memories, driving him into a frenzy. And -Holy Shock, - a Holy spell for damage, hinting at the good soul buried beneath such trauma and guilt. It is only after knocking the behemoth down we can reveal the truth. That among Darkshire's guards is one Sarah Ladimore, the last child of Morgan, lost and forgotten in the chaos but not dead like her siblings. Knowing that at least one innocent was spared, Morgan gratefully grants us his redeemed sword, the Archeus, and passes on, hoping that the Light is merciful to him for his sins.
. And I never got to meet him to see how his afterlife has been. To know, after so long, that saving his soul back then meant something in the world. Never got something so small, yet so personally meaningful, as to know that this noble knight was spared an eternity of suffering. If anything, he's probably just part of the Bastion anima battery now, and I'd never know.
That's what I mean when I say this expansion suffers from lost potential. I never truly expected to see continuation of Rhea or Morgan's stories, they're extremely old tales not every player's even done, or seen. .But I wish we'd gotten more like that. A lot more than what we got, than watching Tyrande's blood feud or the other dozen or so WC3 era characters getting to show up for spotlight with each other. Anduin's conversation with Sylvanas up here. It's fantastic. Wonderful acting and writing for my standards in this game. But it has nothing to do with my character. Or, really, anyone's but the writers' own. And that's frustrating.
I wish we got to matter again. Although if it came down to a choice between not mattering at all and being the center-of-the-universe CHAMPYUN. I don't know. Both kinda suck.

The sad tale of the Forsaken is one that's always resonated with me. Growing up seeing them I always associated them with the edgelord - what better way to play out your edgy teenage fantasies than to be a literal undead, barely accepted as a member of the Horde by simple alliance of convenience, and actively hunted by all else as a monster? Now I see that's part of the allure. The Forsaken never asked to become what they are - they were victims of the Scourge, forced to bring ruin to the world against their will as part of an army of undead, only to break free of their Master's control and regain their free will. Nobody will accept them for what they once were - humans, elves, dwarves, all manner of sapient creature slain and turned into abominable monster only to be allowed the ability to think and feel again. They only have each other now. And maybe now that Sylvanas is finally gone they might have hope for a better future.

God this story was pure garbage, they left so much on the table and the whole -Every soul should have a chance- except Arthas of course he just blinks out of the existence. I hated it and will never be okay with that. He picked up a sword to free his people, with the intention he could resist the evil being a Pally his actions where controlled by the Helm of Damnation he did a good job holding the scrouge at bay the best he could for all the years he wore it. Sylvanas made the choice to join the jailer, to leave the Horde and she gets a chance to redeem herself yet Arthas does not. Did not get quests to see some of the people we lost over the years while in Shadowlands like Grom Hellscream, Tirion, Carine, ect. Shadowlands was pure garbage, horrible writing, lazy and uninteresting with no pay off at all.

Voss should be the face of Forsaken. Calia definitely has an interesting story of being accepted by Forsaken, but she should not be in leadership or be styled as a -Pallid Lady- in succession to the -Dark Lady- as what on earth is the logic of a horde faction allowing for an alliance claim to power happen, it was one of the justifiable reasons Sylvanas killed her. Voss is much better than Calia Menethil.

As much as blizzard is a terrible company and a lot of people are hating on this expansion, it helped me through a difficult time. Failed relationship, stalked by an abusive past partner, couldn't hold down a job, homeless. and this was my only escape when I was couch surfing. When art was imitating my life, I felt less alone. The quotes turned into lessons, and now my life is victorious

The downfall of the lore started slowly with Bolvar becoming the New Lich King. Cata began destroying characters more and more, starting with Sylvanas.
Legion managed to somehow keep some sense but Sylvanas' character was already ruined. BfA and Shasowlands put the nail in many characters' caskets. What they did to Arthas was a joke.
Sylvanas FOREVER!

These interactions are so interesting.
Too bad WoW has become a trauma trigger for me (it used to be my escape when I was still living with my god awful parents.
Now I only periodically check in with compilations like these but can not go back to playing the game anymore.

I started reading the Sylvanas novel a few days ago. I am half way through, the first chapters hit you hard but there is something I only noticed now. The way she calls Anduyn -Little Lion-. it feels the same when she called her little brother -Little Lord Sun-.

Seeing Anduin fear The Light not responding to him, is almost the same like Thrall losing his Shaman powers, he maybe needs a Saurfang-ish intervention like Thrall did.
If Blizzard leaves Anduin like this I hope he doesn't come back.

The night elves are sickeningly good I want no parts of it anymore, and the undead to allow that menithil conquered by the light is disgusting. I will have nothing more to do with either of my two formerly-favorite races.

I'm still rather surprised that Anduin isn't more distraught from getting Calia killed to begin with. Calia isn't the type to hold a grudge but you'd think we'd see this weigh on him more.

Shiet, they're gonna -modernize- my favorite lore character Alexstrasza in Dragonflight.
Yeah. The story is gone, all that is left is gameplay, and soon not even that.

I haven't come back to look at the new cutscenes for a while, I'm really impressed how far the in-game cinematics have come over the years. They're actually lip-syncing now.

Anduin is like that one emo kid with bipolarity that is overprotected
issue is that anduin was the king of stormwind and lead of the alliance.

I hope this won't be the end of Sylvanas. Long has she been one of my favored characters. Even through the desecration of these past two expansions.

Kinda weird seeing Calia feel uncertainly about the menethil name. Always thought that there were Forsaken who fondly remember King Terenas

I despise what Blizzard has become as a company, and their corporate decisions.
But I will never stop loving their story telling.

Does anyone feel like wow has a feminist take over. Literally every strong male character is gone and the ones that remain are weak.

? No she doesn't, that literally is not what the cutscenes show at ALL. A council succeeds Sylvanas which she happens to be a part of.

So, countless Alliance soldiers died in battle for Lordaeron, only for it to be given back to Undead? What the hell blizzard thinking?

They really couldn-t let sylvanas rest for one measley expansion. They just had to bring her back immediately afterwards.
