SL is just fan fiction, story was not written by the original writers! Current wow developers got so much heat for SL, that they do a 180 degree turn away from cosmologic storytelling, thus DF looks more like Cata/MoP. I never asked for a cameo redemption for Arthas and i do think that would have been very lame, because there is actually nothing to redempt. He did nothing wrong? However, i do think Arthas should have replaced the Jailer as final boss by a Kel'Thuzad betrayal on the Robot(Jailer) stealing his powers. Its something you see frequently in old school JRPGs. The big bad was suppposed to be dead or did rise from zero to hero. Arthas perfectly fits to be reborn as big bad in this regard. Story of western rpgs like this are far too predictable and only rely on world building. Sl failed in both regards.

The reason I hated shadowlands revolves around two things.
1. The jailer being behind everything from the beginning from the burning legion, to a pantheons death, to Sylvanas shattering the crown. It doesn-t work when we only learned of his existence when they announced him at the shadowlands announcement without any hints that theorists could have even remotely come close to predicting something like that.
2. They-ve been building up Arthas being in the shadowlands. Given you met other former enemies, I thought it would have been awesome for him and Sylvanas go down a redemption arc together in the maw. But eff anyone who wants to see Arthas again.

The Blizzard writers failed us. Anduin didn't have any fallout for all the evil he committed while under the Jailer's influence, and Sylvanas got a slap on the wrist for all she did in the name of Jailer and being under his influence. Yet one of the biggest Warcraft characters Arthas, having been controlled through the helm and the blade by the Jailer, was reduced to a wisp and allowed to poof out of existence; thus ending any chance at a redemption arc for Arthas. I know Blizzard has been under the knife for awhile, but this failure will be felt for years to come. They could've done so much more with his story.

My king, thank you for the journey through the north lands and Northrend, I wasn't the first, but I was raised into undeath, born to scourge the living and serve you once more in death eternal. Your service to Lordaeron and commitment to your people has been fulfilled my lord, may your soul find peace in death, your sacrifice and burden is felt by many. Although, your throne sits vacant in the icy north and the Capitol city of Lordaeron, blighted. during the first days of the 4th wars beginning, we shall always remember the name. Arthas.

I can accept hi fate, i don't like it but i get it, Jailer wanted revenge for Arthas messing his plans BUT why in the god's name was Sylvanas the one that did that shit monologue at the end, we had Jaina, the love of his life, we had Uther his mentor and a father figure, the reason he was in maw in the first place, why didn't they focus on a story line where Jaina/Uther actually try to find and help Arthas, what happen with Arthas was not more then a huge fan wank for Sylvanas

It's funny to me how these scenes of Jaina and uther talking about Arthas was retconned and changed to what we got in shadowlands and uther apparently doing what he did as a kyrian and that this uther was nothing but a fragment that was inside the sword or something. Maybe that's what he lacked and should have been returned to him as a Kyrian to stop that which happened.
Shadowlands couldn't have done arthas more dirty if it tried.

They thought they could get rid of him? They thought they could make us forget his legacy. his suffering? You cannot destroy what made you strong and known to the world! Your arrogance, your hybris will echo for all eternity, across all, known and unknown, realms!
Rest in peace, my Prince, my King. May your soul find the justice, it was denied, in the unknown realms of Cosmos, until we meet again. and we shall!

It's still baffling to me that an expansion about death did not focus on Arthas. All they had to do was do the same thing they did with Illidan in Legion and it would have been amazing. But no, they had to go a write a convoluted mess that barfs all over the legacy of Warcraft. These people should not be called writers, they are leeches, without any talent.

Gone are the days of heroes when its creators carried a strong passion for their craft. Now replaced with jaded cynicism and cowardly writers that kowtow to the tyrannical false virtues of a society built upon degeneracy. I'll miss this era for what it represented and mourn that it devolved into something that I can't stomach to even look at anymore.

I enjoyed the story of Arthas so much. His story was believable and the Arthas Lich King was one of if not the best character in WoW. So sad Shadowlands missed the opportunity to make a worthy end for him. Felt kind of betrayed with my expectations after seeing Uthers cinematic before Shadowlands. So just keep the good old Arthas in mind.

The worst part would be that Arthas suffered in Live, Death, Immortality in Death and even the End of his Whole Existence, no way he even as a lightbulb wasn't present there and really just wished he could finaly talk with jaina and Uther for the last time. So even in non existence he still suffers. Long live our true Death Lord

You will never perish in our hearts and minds Arthas. We will pass down your tale through generations to generations. Blizzard can try all it wants but even with all its might and shitty writing it will never vanquish you from us. Only you Arthas Menethil have the power, strenght and will of being the TRUE King of Lordaeron.

Blizzard used him at the beginning of shadowland to force many ppl like me to buy shadowland expansion. They ruined him with this weak story line in SL. The only character who need redemption based on storyline was Arthas. Not sylvanas, uther or even Anduin. But they gave us their middle finger

The best way Blizzard thought they could address the Arthas storyline conclusion was to not address it, and refuse even the future possibility of an ending. I understand it's tough to lay perfectly the story of Arthas, but to ignore it completely and deny any hope of closure is a massive disappointment.

Jaina being thw biggest hypocrite. So easily able to forgive arthas, justifying his shit with bullcrap like -he was in there somewhere, he was struggling- like arthas is a victim, cause he obviously was mind controlled and shit, manipulated etc. But sylvanas doesn't desirve the same benefit of the doubt.

why can't the death knights just be the bad guys or neutral guys who only care about their own interests. it's so cringe that they're the good guys. and i totally dislike bolvar, he shouldn't have any saying in what the ebon blade has to do. such noob story writing.

You know I'm okay with Arthas being gone he was an amazing character and I would have hated them if they messed up his story but I would have still liked to see him in a brand new model just for those goosebumps like I had in bfa's Realm of Torment cinematic

it is unknown if arthas is still out there somewhere in the maw since last remnant and flicker of arthas' soul was part of his soul since arthas will be judged and redeemed after destruction of domination magic and zovaal's defeat.

Although i didn't play much during Burning Crusade(not my account, WOTLK is what caught my attention and started my first/current account. Lich King will forever be missed. Here's to hoping Wrath Classic brings back the nostalgia

SL lore is so bad and poorly written it hurts, nothing makes sense. I unironically consider it non-canon, a fan made, after all, not a single one of the OG writters worked on it.
For me, wow lore ended in Legion.

Why'd he have to die so early? If blizzard wasn't do gun how on killing of bosses that are integral lore characters to the powers that be. He could've been a lingering presence like Nagash or Arkhan the black.

I just think that the man Arthas was, had no peace in life or in death and that is a shame. My regret is that he so willingly exchanged the life he could have had, for the darkness he never lost.

Arthas's actions were minor compared to other characters and even to the average demon of the burning legion. They should of had a good ending for him or resurrection to save WOW.

Sylvannas says -horrible price- but the speech bubble states -terrible price-. I never trusted her. Still more convincing than the apparition of Uther voiced by Kel'Thuzad.
