World War II is inarguably one of the darkest periods of human history. It can be difficult to wrap your head around the sheer number of lives lost, families separated, and cities decimated. From the ashes of destruction rise heroes - some recognized, and others deserving of recognition they never receive. Freddie Oversteegen is one of those overlooked heroes from unknown WWII stories. Once you learn about her life, you'll never forget her, and you'll also wonder why no one has made a movie about this incredible woman

This war was won due to many factors although one of the rare ones too be talked about was civilian resistance. Normal everyday people youd pass by at the grocery store and not think twice about that played crucial parts in bringing down the Nazi War Machine. Im glad these women were given the honor they deserved before they died. Too many civilian heroes have gone unnoticed for their bravery in the face of oppression. I love hearing stories like these. It reminds you that any person can change the world.

When hollywood would rather try and make characters like James Bond a woman all for the sake of wokeness instead of making a film about this REAL female heroes is the reason why I have lost faith in humanity. They just want to be perceived as good but they aren't any good.

No jail time for killing civilians? And yeah right, I am to believe they didn't execute children. Ok whatever. Next!
It's good to point out that the resistance had a moral compass, then again anyone was a target. If you got in their way, your ass is grass.

Communism is a poison, just like fascism. The 2 ideologies both plague the papers of history. I understand why it renders the womans reputation for being communists however I respect their courage and Im glad their efforts were recognised in the end.

Absolute heroes. I feel like the contribution of communist resistance in WWII is covered up due to political reasons and it's such a shame. I want to know so much more about these brave souls, I don't care what their politics were.

The narrator in these weird history video's seems to always pronounce Dutch or Belgian Flemish names waaaay to German. He should listen to how we pronounce stuff, it doesn't sound much alike to the harsh German accent.

These women are true heroes and as the great grand daughter of a holocaust survivor, I thank them for their service.
Especially for smuggling as many jewish children out of the city as they possibly could.

These women are amazing. It made me so sad hearing about the children being killed by Nazi soldiers and it makes me so upset that these people are killing children because of bigotry and power and corruption.

The Greatest Generation for though fearful and themselves forever tainted, they held against the worst of humanity.
The longer their sacrifice is remembered the less likely it's to be repeated.

Oh damn, I hate communists opposing individual freedom and liberty and opposing private properties but people intelligent people and special deeds deserve, and forced economic equality is wrong

Comparing them to oskar Schindler? Hes cool and all I suppose, but wouldnt they be a level above him on the respect scale. Not being nazis in the first place?

If I were in a similar circumstance I believe and hope I would act as these women did. But in truth I wouldnt really know until pressed into such a situation

As a Dutch citizen im very proud of these woman, eventho communism for better or for worse never had a chance here. But the name pronouncements are sinfull
reply

There were actually a lot of resistance fighters that noone talks about because they were communists. I'm glad these two finally got their recognition

Just finished watching the video and all I can say is wow, what an interesting and awesome story. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

What a fascinating story! How about making a movie about these 3 incredible women instead of recycling the same garbage year in and year out.
reply

Great story true heroes. But when you say the Jewish children were gunned down by the Germans, don't show American soldiers poor editing job
reply

Unfortunately I think I'd be a coward and afraid to resist but I'm in awe of such bravery. I'm sure many were grateful for what they did.

I find it funny the Communist didn't like the fascist when there Ideals are so close. Stalin wasn't much better to the working class.
