What Life Is Like as a Secret Service Agent

The people who undertake Secret Service training keep presidents, vice presidents, first families, and even candidates safe. But their own lives can be incredibly dangerous. The Secret Service agent job description includes both protection and investigation. Being an agent may seem glamorous, but it's often anything but. Agents spend long hours watching crowds for suspicious behavior, constantly functioning on high alert. They carry weapons, investigate crimes, secure locations, and keep some of the most powerful people in the world safe

My father is not a secret service agent, but every now and then he gets to work with some. When Trump wasnt president he also had to fly down to Marilago and was in charge of searching vehicles. He got to work with some awesome K9 dogs and hes searched all of the Trump family rooms, and its really interesting to hear about stuff like that, since hes not a secret service member hes not sworn to secrecy so he tells me about interesting things when he comes back from trips. Hes also shaken Eric Trumps hand

President Kinnedy suffered from Addisons disease. The bullet resistant clear top of his Lincon Limo was very hot inside. He always chose to ride with out it on warm days. People with Addsons avoid hot tempatures and dehydration to avoid an adrenal crisis. An adreanal crisis makes the body feel week, rappid heart rate, vomiting, and muscle pain. I'm I am impressed by all that President Kennedy was able to do while president. It is why we as a country should stop naming babys Addison.

A friend married someone who was ex-secret service. He was a weird guy. I was visiting her one day and he showed up and while still wearing his sunglasses inside quietly stood next to her while she and I talked. I think he had their home under video surveillance that she didn't know about. I was uncomfortable and left which is exactly what he had in mind (I think) He wanted to know where she was and who she was with 24/7. He became too weird for her and she divorced him.

Listen to this makes me glad that I didn't follow through on going into the SS. I had completed the app, approved for testing and scheduled, but didn't go. I would either have resigned or reassigned because my job is to keep you alive not be your dog walker and such like.

American presidents no longer have secret service agents for life, they only have the maximum of two for a ten year period after they leave office (1 if indoors, 2 if they go places) it used to be for life but that changes during Obama's 2nd term.

WEIRDER HISTORY #funfact edition: it's fun to refer to L. B. J. as el bj. Sure, it sounds the same, but now you can giggle to yourself and think of him as some mouth-action hero. Youuuuuu're welcome.

LBJ was a nasty man. The worst. And I'm not surprised that Jimmy Carter's kids were/are assholes. I have no clue how the man was even able to stand considering he has no spine.

I can see the US president being one ov the more important jobs in America. But not the most important job in the whole world! That is a stretch.

You have to really be a badass to do secret service work. Theres no President that I like enough to risk my life for, thats something I would only do for my kids.

Imagine being a secret service and accidentally shooting the president's son because he pointed a fake toy gun at dad (president) that you didn't know about

I always heard LBJ was mean and had no manners, he used to make his secretaries come into the bathroom while he was on the toilet to take dictation.

I still get occasionally followed around by secret service. I was briefly married to Michelle Obama. I ended the marriage when I realized she's a man.

Believe it or not, most of them a Secret Service agent's time is not spent protecting the POTUS, but protecting the US currency.

Lets not forget the secret service agent that made headlines a decade ago for refusing pay a hooker in Columbia $400 for the night.
