How can you make your voice heard in a noisy world? The key is public speaking and presentation literacy, and we can help: Storytelling is an ancient art; as humans developed language and culture, we learned to share our stories, thoughts, and dreams. And that storytelling evolved into public speaking, and our audience thanks to the internet is the whole world, not just a campfire. So how can we make our voices heard in such a busy space? Chris Anderson digs into why presentation literacy is the skill of the future

Don t cry sis, everything is going to be alright!
Those were my brother s words to us after he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (of the bile duct) in October of 2009.
Only given 6 months to a year. Our family was devastated!
Our attitudes quickly changed after my brother taught us to Believe and Never Give Up!
This is God s plan my journey and I m okay with it! We ll hang out again!
My brother Jesse was a musician. A drummer extraordinaire! He was my older brother who protected me from bullies growing up! His unconditional love was always apparent. I looked up to him in many ways. I gave up my job as a M. A. C. Makeup artist to care for my brother. I took my art bag everywhere I went every doctors appointment, every hospital visit and all of his hydration and chemo treatments. We would spend hours, and it gave me time to create a little thank you art for the doctors and nurses and even other patients. Dr. Bessudo s office is filled with my Art! Scripps Memorial Encinitas displays my art all around I m told it s been seen in their break rooms! Ask anyone in ER! Especially nurse Karen Kay! She could tell you about the Love and Inspiration that my brother gave! The courage he had when he was so ill, yet he was always so calm and respectful to all the nurses and doctors. I wanted to Thank them in every possible way for taking wonderful care of my brother! I did it through my Art!
My brother lost his battle in May of 2012.
I m the First ever Illustrator for Project Anti-Bully!
My Dreams are coming true ONLY NOW because my brother has led me the path his inspiration has built a wonderful future for me in Art and helping others. The letters I receive from around the world, telling me how much my art has inspired them or touched their hearts.
It s a wonderful feeling!
I am blessed so truly grateful.
Blessed to have had a big brother like Jesse!
Peace Love & Rock N Roll!

Storytelling is a big part of my life. Eversince I was a child I always loved to tell the stories I had read on the books and the imaginations I had in my mind. I joined competitions related to this ancient art when I was just in elementary until I was in highschool and it helped a lot in my confidence in public speaking. Until now I value it's importance in my life and I am still dreaming that one day the stories bottled up in my imagination will reach a lot people to inspire them or to make them smile. Right now I'm thinking of using the ample knowledge I have in becoming a writer and a narrator I do hope it'll go well in the future.

I must say for me personally, hi-res pictures and sound actually takes away from the spoken word of a great storyteller.
When only listening to the story, told by someone who is truly great at storytelling, the level of immersion increases tenfold when letting my imagination fill in what is said, compared to watching some pictures while the same story is told. Of course, that only goes for those who are truly great at storytelling.
When someone is mediocre, pictures and music enhances the experience and engagement, as a mediocre storyteller will struggle to place any images in peoples mind with just his words.

I have read a book where the writer believed that cavemen inherited memory or their ancestors, so had bigger brains overall because the part of their brains for memory was much larger. However they couldn t learn much more new information in this way and so this part of our brains gradually decreased with new generations of humans. I like this video because it suggests that we still do have connections with each other in ways.

as a guy with no stagefright, its easy for me to say, just dont worry about it
but think of it this way. think back to highschool when your class had to present.
do you remember A SINGLE OTHER SPEECH FROM ANYONE ELSE?
OF COURSE NOT.
humans are self centered. not a bad thing. just how it is. nobody will remember because nobody else really cared.

For as many people sharing great ideas on the Internet there will be those who share horrible ideas. Both will be followed. That's the power of the Internet: It's both one of the greatest and worst inventions ever created. It is more important to listen critically and actually understand what your learning or teaching than just speaking because you can.

That moment when you present your mastery of public speaking, by making a presentation of public speaking:
Let's go light a fire
Such impact, using a metaphor imbued with mysticity to encourage action, while referring to a previously used metaphor at the start of the talk. masterful
Edit: The soundtrack was spot on as well; )

Amazing topic right here. This is true in any aspect esp in science. Communicating and pitching ideas regarding any topics effectively is really hard esp when youre not prepared. I certainly agree and believe that this skill can be mastered by anyone. hope this has a part 2!

Because I suffer from anxiety and I want to learn to speak in public with less nervousness. So I have decided to study communications in college to get over this fear. While talking more to strangers to start becoming comfortable
