What If You Were Stranded on the World's Most Remote Island?

What If You Were Stranded on the World's Most Remote Island? Escaping by any type of flotation device is out of the question. That would be suicidal. It seems like food wouldn-t be an issue with the penguins. Water would be a big problem. There is snow and rain at times, I am guessing? So, it would be feasible to survive that way, but I think there is very little actual water in snow if you-re consuming it. They did not mention anything about a fresh water source on the island, like possibly in the summer season. Fire would be next to impossible since there is no wood. I am sure there are ways if you were a trained survivalist though. So that would mean your eating raw meat most likely. Not the best thing either. Even if you were to get a fire going somehow, what could you burn. Possibly whatever had washed ashore. I happen to know that there is a fairly old wooden boat on the shore there somewhere, but your resources wouldn-t last long. Assuming you had winter gear when they dropped you off, shelter of some sort could be constructed with an igloo, but it is Antarctica. So I would say that no one could survive there for one year, even if they were dropped off with full winter gear. It would be just a matter of weeks probably, and done. The weather would be the killing factor in my opinion.

I thought it would be Gough Island or Tristan Da Cunha as those are both in the South Atlantic and very remote too.
The nearest land to Gough Island would be Bouvet and the two Islands couldn't be more different. Gough is forested and has pleasant temps year round (between 11 & 20 C) although it does rain a LOT.
Bouvet has the WORST climate in the world as it's constantly cold, snowy and stormy and temps range between -5 C & 5 C year round. Makes Kerguellen and the Falkland Islands look pleasant in comparison

Me while watching this: Oh they definitely built a super max prison on this island. no way to get off, and even if they escaped, frigid temperatures would kill them if they didn't get to the research base on the island. wait why didn't you mention the outpost.
reply

It-s a remote island, it-s covered in a glacier, and it has a volcano under it.
There-s absolutely no way that a bond villain doesn-t have his secret lair there. That-s just using science right there.

It's obvious to me that this Island is where Godzilla lives and the two nuclear explosions were foolish attempts to kill him. Let us leave the King of the Titans to his rest and not disturb him further.

Curiously, you made no reference to South Georgia, to the west of your subject island. Sth. Georgia has a resident population, plus it gets regularly visited by cruise ships on their way to Antarctica.
reply

South Georgia is about 2500km from Bouvet Island and is inhabited. And Norway also has other overseas terirtories. Peter I island. And Svalbard and Jan Mayen island are technically.

best bet is to wait for an iss flyover, calculate the dopler shift, use a ham radio to ask for help, and hope they actually have it turned on.

What if you were stranded on a huge continent, packed with the most violent creatures the earth has ever witnessed and nowhere to hide?
reply

Why are we even asking -can you survive- or -can you escape- this hellhole? It-s impossible, and even God ain-t helping

I wish people would stop believing the idiocy that there almost 8 billion people on Earth. Facts show there are just over 6 billion.

You know a place is a desolate insignificant wasteland when the Brits don-t care too much when another country claims it from them.
reply

There are lots of interesting isolated islands out there. Spitsbergen would probably give this one a run for its money.

Short answer to the video title?
You hope to quietly freeze to death in your sleep before you starve to death.

reply

A group of radio amateurs, -hams, - ran a special station, 3Y0J, February 6-13, 2023 on Bouvet Island.
reply

I heard there's a weather station on that island, you could use that as your shelter and perhaps call for help
