What if the Roman Empire Reunited Today?

What if the Roman Empire Reunited Today? Romes capital can only be Rome. Rome truly fell when Diocletian governed it from Ravenna.
Romes language is Classical Latin. It doesnt matter if most people speak other language, as that never mattered to the Romans to start with.
Romes official religion would have to either be Catholic Christianity or the Ancient Roman religion. Rome would -never- be a secular state, or Muslim for that matter; they would, however, be quite tolerating as long as the other religions didnt cause trouble.
Also, you seem to think Africa, Libya, Asia and the Levant would remain underdeveloped under Rome. They wouldnt; within a strong and unified Mediterranic state, prosperity would skyrocket and the entire Roman Empire would quickly become an authoritarian utopia, as long as its Senate and People managed to remain united.

It is sad that this country has been torn apart. Imagine France, Spain, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, all of them are one country. Imagine, if they unite, how that country can prosper with good and wise management, and how it will have civilizations, a long history, and a diversity of sources of wealth. Really, why doesn't that country return, perhaps without Libya, Algeria, Iraq, Syria, and perhaps Lebanon? It will be an ideal country, and its financial capital may be in Britain or Berlin, and its cultural capital in Rome or Cairo. Italy and Portugal and the unification of Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco and the unification of Turkey and Greece. -Perhaps it is better for Greece to go with Europe and Turkey with the Arabs, as there will be no fighting.

Actually Christianity would be the dominant religion because in 380 AD an emperor called Teodosio made a -law- called -Editto di Milano- or -Editto di Teodosio- that forced everyone to be Christian or by making it simple I should say: Teodosio meant -Be Christian or die. - So they couldn-t choose their religion making Christianity the most followed religion with 100% of the empire-s population.

The Roman Empire would become a federal parlementer republic. All countries would survive inside the empire. The emperor would be chosen by the senate from among the senators, kings/presidents from the autonomous countries. Emperor or co-emperors could appoint a consul as prime minister

That can not happen because Roman empire didn't splinted but was conquered by other people non-Roman. The only who would like that union today are maybe, Spanish, Italians, Serbians and Greeks. All the others are them who destroyed the Roman empire

A Roman Empire in todays time, would be a super power. The GDP would grow. Remember the Middle East was home to many people of philosophy, science and engineering. Ethnically and religiously diverse. A New Rome would certainly be a marvel.

Man, you missed such a perfect opportunity to remind us that it's now Istanbul not Constantinople been a long time gone old Constantinople. Oh well, can't have everything can we, at least there's still Turkish delight on a moonlight night.

When you talk about the Emperor of Rome. You also have to see the languages --and languages --that are derived under Latin Rome would be a Monarchy Empire and Republic. Counting on all that is America

There would be no muslims:
There was a Dick in 392 AD that forced everyone to be Christian. So IF we take old laws there as well, there would me no muslims, atheists, jews and any other belives

reply

Italy tried reviving the Roman Empire during WWII, but as we all know, that failed disastrously for them. But if it magically formed, poverty would likely be a key issue for decades.
reply

It wouldnt survive. Not vause of language or money or any of that. The large make up of Muslims and Chsitians. Muslims arent a religion that takes kindly to other religions.
reply

Obviously there would be ethnic and religious purges and I believe if it actually holds having the Mediterranean sea as a lake would be of great economy advantage
reply

Had the Roman empire never fell.
Muslims would never be there. Egypt, Anatolia, Palestine, North Africa have already been Christianized under Roman rule.

reply

You should have left out Trajans temporary conquests in the east. Iraq wasnt part of the empire for long and it really skewed the demographics.
reply

first of all, if we were SPQR citizens, we didn't need NATO to protect ourselfs, or even EU, oh wait, SPQR is (most) the europe, ALSO ABOVE! :)
reply

Don't forget that more then 30% of the people in muslim countries are atheist, they just in the closet afried of thier live.
reply

If I were to choose the language of the empire
I would choose Latin because historically that's the language they spoke!

reply

Little late but why would the capital of the Roman Empire not be Rome. Constantinople was just the Eastern Empire-s capital
reply

If the Roman Empire returned, all Christian-s would be orthodox. That-s the benefit of restoring the pentarchy -
