How good are you at reading notes in the alto clef? You may play an instrument that never needs to use the alto clef but you might want to grasp the essentials of reading notes in the alto clef. You might play with other instrumentalists who do read in the alto clef and you may wish to understand what they are reading? Or you might be a composer or stranger needing to write music for instruments that use the alto clef. Alternatively, you might be taking a theory exam in which alto clef knowledge is required. Whichever, this video is for you. Improve your alto clef reading today! 1:09 - Alto clef reference 2:11 - Reading the notes

What I do to read all the clefs is to read the 7th chord starting in the first space, the 7th cord starting in the 2nd line and the 9th chord starting in the first line, just saying the notes in 3rd intervals. For example in the alto cleft of C in the 3rd line I recognize the G7 starting in the first space (G,B,D,F), the Am7 starting in the 2nd line (A,C,E,G) and finally the FM7(9) starting in the 1st line (F,A,C,E,G) ....as well I identify the middle C, the high C, the higher C, the highest C and the super highest C according to each of the 7 clefs... 3 wellknown clefs (F,C,G) and 4 brand new clefs (D,A,E,B) invented by myself. Finally, I have set up some central points for example in the alto clef of C my central points are C and G in the staff. So what I do is to identify the note below and above the C and the G and the notes between the C to G and G to C. Greetings from Tijuana!

I am working on it...Also I am reading the D clef, the A clef, the E clef and the B clef...well, you never heard about these ones last clefs because I just invented by myself for some instruments. So I am studying the C clef for soprano, contralto, alto, tenor, in the first second, third and fourth line...now get the hang of it how to read them, when I read them in 3rd intervals starting in the 1st line, first space, and 2nd line.. I-m trying to learn alto clef for euphonium because in this piece, Curnow switches between bass and alto. So is C in the middle of the alto clef the same as C on the first line above the top of the bass clef?
