Lesson nine of our FREE online piano course for beginners wanting to learn how to play the piano, presented to you by ABRSM Examiner Gareth Green. In this video we return to the treble clef and add a new note, F. There is revision of the treble clef notes covered so far - C, D, E, and now F - alongside further work on reading and counting rhythm, and playing with both a steady pulse and with good hand position. You will also learn some simple improvisation. There is further experience given with playing in four time and in relation to playing in phrases. You will also develop skills in reading the shape and patterns of melody lines, which makes learning quicker and easier. As always, there is a new piece to learn and a duet to play.
