Your Powerbank has 1 BIG Problem! (That we can Hack)

we will be having a closer look at powerbanks and their one flaw. Now I do love powerbanks because they are the perfect portable power source for your electronics projects. They provide 5V, are super easy to handle, safe and cheap. Only problem is that they turn off automatically when there is only a small load attached which can be a problem for some of my projects. A lot of the Anker banks can go into "low power draw" mode if you double tap the battery state button. Usually the "25%" LED will change colour to indicate it. I used to get super frustrated on long hikes when my power bank would stop charging my earphones or light batteries, but then I learned I could double tap and it stays on.

Great idea! It's very frustrating that with so many little gadgets getting USB-C nowadays for their tiny batteries or low power draw, your best quality power banks are the most likely to refuse to recognise them.

Easy hack here. Just wire in a couple of Christmas tree light bulbs so it senses a load. If you don't want to see the lights some electric tape can fix that

The engineer who thought that shutting off the power bank if it does not detect 500ma is a id10t. Its in the same field as a cloud service for appliances.

My Xiaomi Powerbank have 2-hour low charging mode to charge low power devices like Smart Band, Earphones etc. i just have to double tap button.

You just need to spend more on your powerbanks. The ones I have can be put in a trickle mode which disables the low current shutoff.
