Every Device should have this Upgrade! (Endless Battery Run Time)
video description
Also, what happens when the external battery dies? The balancing wires may still show good voltage, and if the battery isn't properly protected, will it shut down? I. e. does the MCU measure the overall voltage to shut down?
Finally, how much does it increase the weight of the vacuum? Is it convenient with an imbalanced weight now?

Hello. I am writing you from TURKEY. To give you an idea, I think the minimum wage in this country is 4, 250 TL, that is, as a unit. I run a coffee shop and my electricity bill is 3, 800 Turkish Lira. I searched on the internet but couldn't find an exact way. In my shop, there are 2 refrigerators, 1 3800W espresso machine, one 3000W fast industrial dishwasher, 1 instantaneous water heater that works for washing dishes from time to time. In general, the most energy consuming resistance water heaters in my shop. Does installing an electrical compensation panel provide any benefit to my incoming bill? How can I make an economy for the resistors?

Proprietary battery packs are a scourge of humanity. As with USB, there should be a standard interface for battery packs between manufacturers, and royalty free.
How many of us have various power tools over the years and have boxes of different packs and chargers?
Some of them have become unusable as tools wear out and the packs become incompatible with later models or other manufacturers tools.

I support all efforts to make the 18V Makita battery a sort of standard: ) We need standards for cordless tools and appliances, tired of all the manufacturer lock ins.
If Makita really wanted to they could get into the home appliance market with their cordless battery system, they've got good market penetration already with a lot of homes already containing a Makita battery and charger.

I coincidentally retrofitted my two old NiCd battery power drills using that same Makita battery adapter not that long ago. The NiCd batteries were worn out and there were no replacements to find anymore, while the drills themselves both worked still fine. Using this 'hack' I now have given my two drills a new life.

Or. buy a vac with a cord? Ok admit being a bit cheeky. Until there's way more than 18v DC power available, I wouldn't bother buying these. There are some 40 something volts portables around but very expensive. But nice hack anyway. I thought u were gonna just connect ext battery in parallel to extend run time.

I feel like it's easier to just use a vacuum that plugs in to the mains. I mean, yeah, it's nice to have a battery-powered, portable vacuum that is highly mobile, especially once you've modded it to take portable tooling power packs, but wouldn't a power cord be so much easier inside of the home?

I converted a bunch of my electric devices to changeable battery if they don't have that capability beforehand.
I am not planning to do that to my OneWheel+XR. Considering that it was really expensive and this is my main transport right now, I am quite careful and still in the planning phase.

TBH, Bosch also makes a vacuum cleaner with exchangable battery pack. It's the GAS 18V-1 from their Professional Line, to which you can use their 18V professional battery pack.
But yes, I love your DIY. That give me some thoughts to upgrade my other, older vacuums

Great video, thank you.
That is a much cleaner upgrade than what I did with just a switch that obstructed use of the external battery holder while the internal battery was in use. (I don't trust myself enough to remember every time and for as long as I own it)
