Can a Raspberry Pi be used as an Arduino? RPi GPIO Programming Guide 101 fgreger: Or lets say you need USB and/or ethernet. As soon as you need a little more connectivity the raspberry can become economical if you don't want to go into mass production.
As all the circuit board design and assembly can easily cost as much as dozen raspberrys where you just clone the Sd-card.
Just consider that the person you are assigning the work to can easily cost around a raspberry per hour. Even on the very low end you don't get more then a few hours for the price of one.
So below say 20 or 30 pieces even significant hardware overkill can actually be cheaper.

You can use a Raspberry Pi as a uC, except when you need a hard-realtime system - hard realtime systems require an RTOS to guarantee event driven responses and you cannot rely on the HW of a General Purpose CPU for that (largely due to the OS. Soft realtime can be implemented on a Raspberry Pi as the events become less critical. For example, if you want to build a pacemaker - ONLY EVER USE a uC with a solid RTOS (as no events must EVER get missed)!

A BMS based on a Raspberry Pi seems like it could be very useful (assuming that it's possible. I've been trying for a while to dream up a BMS that could monitor and optimize each cell individually by being aware of it's specifications (which is probably unnecessary, but could potentially make it very beginner friendly) and a Pi seems like it could be a good way to achieve that

I found that the best option is that of using an Arduino/clone (maybe one of those cheap Minis) connected to the Raspberry Pi. So you have the power of a computer, combined with Arduino functionality (for example, controlling The WS family of LED strips using the FastLED library. The only difficulty is that some kind of protocol has to be used to interface the two systems.

there is one thing that Never makes Raspberry Pi win.
Size. sometime RPi is too big for embed to Tiny System. ( and Arduino is way smaller)
But if you think that you want a budget and a tiny computer ( with capable of the core of robot or something, RPi will win.

Hello sir,
Can you make video of how to connect raspberry pi 4 with 4G LTE USB dongle. i don't know how to setup my raspberry pi with dongle it was for my quadcopter with 4g telemetry so looking forward for your reply
Thank you,

I am fan of your content GreatScott. Got a question for you/audience (feel free to participate everyone: )
What are the different way to connect to raspberry Pi and Arduino remotely? with full low-level serial console access?

reply

Considering a Pi 4. Dabbled with Pi3 controlling an SPI 24b ADC, but found out SPI clock was locked to CPU clock which changes with CPU temp. Unacceptable for embedded. Does the 4 fix this issue?

Great introduction into raspberry world for me as esp/arduino user!
I'd love to see a cheap way to map environment with the rasbpi and probably lasers. to guide a robot through the garden: )

I would want to use rasberry input to show a picture in screen, is that possible for me? Im amateur at rasberry things. Im trying to get if button is pressed, show picture
