GreatScott! Reason why your welding machine does not work is because you need another transformer, first transformers cables need to go around secondary coil of trans former and then after another transformers primary coil and after that you take welding power from it.

You have to put two transformers in series. I've done this at home to make my own portable welder. mine is. 12v and 3600+amps. It gets very hot but with some decent cooling its usable.

amazing work - for aluminum people emit argon (and I think some use nitrogen) gas on the weld area because otherwise aluminum oxidizes very quickly before a clean weld can form.

Try to use step down high current transformer. I already have a high current transformer which I salvaged from a stereo amplifier or you can buy one
