Is the Sony PlayStation 3 really that old that it only has a 40GB hard drive in it? Today, that is only barely enough space for even a modestly useful copy of Windows Vista/7/8/8. 1/10. The only way you could leave enough room on it for any practical purpose would be to install a copy of Windows 9X/XP or earlier, from back when 40GB was enough to back up an entire school computer lab worth of student user data.

Heads
just blast them with a joule thief.
wind a few more turns than normal. use a toroid for slow field collapse. a long smooth pulse rather than a short high pulse. the duty cycle is low enough to ignore max ratings.
T=L/R. R is diode drop, fixed in this case. L can be made large for more time. more turns. hundreds even

You used red to ignite an actual match and then used the blue to ignite the match (the wood itself! Why not conduct the same test? I'm sure most people want to see how well the BluRay diode holds up so they can burn shit and not pay a couple hundred.

Instead of reap it apart, wouldn't be better to fix it? Another thing that lasers eventually run out on PS systems, so the laser head can be easily sold up to 10 backs at least. I personally felt horrible when he cut out diod. Flayer. :(

It seems so easy when he is soldering. when I am soldering, even though I have some mechanical metal clips to hold my wires and a magnifying glass, my hands were still shaking like my 80yrs old grandfather.

FYI, the emissions sticker only indicates the 'accessible' radiation while in its intended enclosure, this is obviously a class 3b or better out of the box, just sayin.
