The British crossed the Rhine at Wesel were it was much wider, 1/4 mile, with faster current than up stream at Oppenheim were Patton crossed, only the fool Bradley would compare the two. However Monty had the last laugh, the capture of Northern Germany two days before Bradley and Patton captured Southern Germany. Eisenhower's Broad Front was to protect bumbling Bradley, who in any race would be last. He hid in his villa in Luxemburg while Monty won the battle of the Bulge.
