But like how do they know that other animals don't like to eat ants so that's why they should become one. Like I understand evolution, trial and error on a large scale, but like. how? Did they try other insects to mimic first and when that didn't work the ones that look like the ant survived and passed on it's genes? And how did the eggs come to look like the seed it needed to be. My mind is so blown.

I love these guys. We have a few different kinds of stick bugs. The best thing is you can pick them up, they are very friendly, so much so they will crawl right into your hand and they don't bite.
