Humans have come up with some clever ways of keeping cool when it's warm, and staying warm when it s cool. But unfortunately, our heating and air conditioning systems are worsening the climate crisis. In this episode of Crash Course Climate and Energy, we ll take a look at some of the ways we might be able to decarbonize those systems to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases they produce. Mark: Nothing will change until all governments globally put the responsibility for sorting out co2 emissions and all the other issues back with the suppliers. They certainly have he money to sort it out. Same applies to the plastics problems. Get the people who made billions from it responsible for the problems caused by it

Yes and it's cheap, easy, sustainable for at least a thousand years; and it's name is Thorium Salt Reactor.
Edit: The overwhelming majority of fossil fuels were made by algae prior to the algae growing out of control and causing an ice age, extincting themselves to a large degree. This is roughly 445 Million years ago. So it's renewable but not in our species entire existence and then some. I am really into the idea of crispr/cas-9 enhanced algae that can be made into a biofuel but it's still a WIP.
I mostly like the idea as a realistic and cheap means of capturing the CO2 we've spent 200 years releasing.

In my job, I m working to ensure that new development built in London doesn t use fossil fuels for heating, is super well insulated (important for heat pumps, uses very little energy and generates lots of renewable energy. Our experts have advised us that hydrogen is best saved for things that can't be made zero carbon with electricity - like shipping, aircraft and steel production.
It s very rewarding work - thanks for getting the word out into the world!

2. 8 million jobs in a booming economy. That sounds like a win. I think back before my parents even met climate change nuts were saying how humanity was ruining the future for the children of the planet. Well, they didn't. Everything seems fine to me.

Sadly missing efficiency. If you live in a well insulated building cooling and heating loads can often be many times lower than in other buildings that leak air, lack shading in summer / windows towards the south in winter, etc.

Wear minimal clothing in summer and put more clothes on when your cold instead of turning up the heat. Double the amount of insulation and ditch windows. If you want to SEE outside, GO outside.

Very informative, always wondered if the only way to reduce heating emissions was renewable energy, but i'd never heard of these air compression systems. Great video

Funny, i'm getting my new air to water heat pump tomorrow! Very expensive but also efficient. Heat pumps are very common here in the nordics.
