What exactly is Consciousness? Well. that's kind of a gray area. Hank gives you the basic ideas of what Consciousness is, how our attention works, and why we shouldn't text and drive. ever. no, really, NEVER!

-I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness. - -Max Planck (Father of quantum theory and Nobel Laureate)
-As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clearheaded science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about the atoms this much: There is no matter as such! All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. .. . We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter. - -Max Planck

Simple experiment to determine if something is conscious. If you give a human an anesthetic so the can't feel anything from their body but are still conscious, and then start cutting parts of their body off while they are watching, you can measure brain activity that shows they are aware and not happy about what you are doing. If you do the same thing to a salamander, you will get very different readings while they are anesthetized vs not. Chances are they won't have an opinion about what you are doing if they feel no pain.

It's easier to remember me making making a comment that I liked your video than trying to remember that the like button turned blue. I want to make this specific comment because I noticed the moon walking bear. I tried counting the passes in my preferential vision but if you say that my conscious mind can only focus on one thing then there is no point in continuing the test.

Funny how my eyes need help to filter and focus, but my ears do it automatically, sometimes hearing even the faintest of sounds in a loud room. Like the phone ringing from under a pillow in the bedroom down the hallway while i'm in the living room, watching TV. or something vibrating while watching TV. why doth this occur?

Why am I watching a video on consciousness and our attention spans and whatnot. then start scrolling through the comments only to find myself near the middle of them and realize Im supposed to be doing school work? Talk about selective attention.

I thought it-s your processer. All the information such as memory, sight, feeling, etc it-s where all information goes to allow the organism to make the decision

6: 45 one of those tests literally just happened on my timeline scrolling through the social medias. Coincidence, or something much more? -

I noticed the moon walking bear because I've done the test before a long time a ago and crash course gave me a heads up about it.
