SHE WENT WILD in the ICE BATH - WINTER ROUTINE - Off Grid Wilderness Living - Ep. 120 Jake and Nicole leave Komorebi and escape to the wilderness of the Canadian Rocky Mountains to immerse in nature. Upon returning we visit a local Vancouver Island Fruit Tree nursery on a small island to get some local permaculture and gardening knowledge and purchase proven edible fruit trees. We continue to fell tree on Komorebi for safety, sun, and gardening and collect slimy kelp seaweed for our garden compost. We adventure into the wild and raw wilderness which surrounds our property and then try to boost our Winter mood, mind, and energy with a near freezing ice bath and cold dip plunge in the wood fired hippie hot tub. The water had ice on the top and it was 1-2 degrees outside. Check out our new for more to our story, a calendar, and our Jake and Nicole eco-friendly and natural shirts!

With the greatest of respect this is not your country as you claim. It was forcibly taken from the indigenous first nations people of this region. Please say something of the original people who lived here. Who were they? Do you know who they were? Don't just pay homage to the mountains for the time lapse. Also the nstive humans, what happened to them? Please don't dehumanise them, but honour them as you honour the mountains. It will do no good, be pointless, useless to selectively connect. The mountains will not accept it. Remember you are temporary guardians over this land / country. One day you and your descendants must return to your own land where you are from. You are the first peoples and natives of those far lands.

You are choosing to do this for personal satisfaction. The future however will reveal a time when individuals will need to do this for survival. That will not be as cozy or designed. A gross depopulation event will occur in 2045 when according to UN studies, commercial fishing in the world's oceans will cease to exist due to over fishing. It will start a Domino Effect in the Earth's Commodity Biology which will lead to the depopulation of BILLIONS of humans.

When I lived in Germany, (for 11 years, I would go to the sauna every week. We did severalbrounds of about 10 minutes in the sauna and then jump in a deep hole that had big ice blocks floating in the water. After that we would rest for a few minutes and then repeat the cycle about 5 more times. That water so VERY cold! However, the process was very invigorating and excellent for the circulation. I was in my 20s when I did that. Now, 72, I would not dare!

I admire your bravery, I would love to live off the land, I was born in Louisiana snd all we knew was farming and raising our own cattle. I miss growing my own veggies and fruit, now living in California the soil here is not that great. I want to learn composting, you both inspire me to change my lifestyle. I-m afraid of the animals in the Forest especially snakes. OMG!

Idk if it-s already been said but carry a pocket knife for the 101 uses it has like-cutting what you-re gathering that way you don-t damage the roots and it can grow back to be gathered again in the future that way it will be consistent easy finds. Cheers

Ice bathing is a procedure in which you immerse yourself in water at a low temperature (usually around 10°C or lower) to strengthen your immune system, increase your resistance to cold and improve your general physical condition. This practice has a number of benefits, but it must be done carefully and with your health in mind.

Galvanized water trough setup looks similar to how we removed oils from an excavated 45' whale skeleton by boiling bones like soup to prepped them for display. Sorry just brought back memories.
