i read somewhere (Quora probably) that you should not Lubricate Electric Fans with WD-40 since the dust stuck in it and the heat+friction will make it stick not too long after. for that use sewing machine oil. but for a house door squeak or a hard to open windows (the ones with the spinning levers) it can make it open like a rocket! (since you are probably used to put a lot of force. you only need one finger after)

I've heard, many decades ago that, some people used WD-40 on their side windows and rear windshield so the water shed better. I, for myself, use Rain-X twice/year. It works wonder in winter, when you defrost your vehicle. Snow and ice comes off easier. Greetings from Canada Scotty.

Sorry Scotty but wd40 is bad for rubber. If you soak any rubber hose bush cover it will look like ballon. Also wd40 can kill bearings with one kick. There is no cover on bearings to protect it against it. Wd40 is a cleaner do it on any rust dirty stuff alfter wipe with rug.

wd 40 is not safe on rubber. will permanently destroy car door hinges by washing away grease. can ruin door locks by attracting dirt. its good for washing greasy hands. shining up headlights/tail lights. Never spray near your windows or will be oily.

If your defroster dies in the winter, wipe just a little WD40 on the windshield and it will defog your window so you can drive home. And as to weird, I had my steering linkage seize two years ago. sprayed it with WD40 and it's still working fine.

As a former locksmith, WD-40 is the ONLY thing to lubricate lock cylinders with. NOT that graphite stuff they recommend. Do all your lock cylinders, house, car, padlocks, attic, once a year, and you'll never have a problem. Jayman.

Hey, you said use silicone lubricant on tires and bushings to prevent rubber dry rot.
Door squeaks, use Lithium spray. It sticks and lasts for years.
Never use WD40 on cable push and pullers. It gums them up.

I use it on locks all the time. Military here and our Strykers are secured with padlocks. 5 each that are in the weather 24/7. They don't handle the weather well at all and the WD-40 makes them like new.

Caution leaving aerosol cans in a car in hot weather. I was around when a guy was rooting around in his car trunk near where I worked. Paint can somehow blew open and sprayed in his eyes.
