1. With this size of hole You should look for whole sheet metal and weld it to points where there is no rust,
2. Whats the point in cutting elements exactly to match the hole? It would be much better to left more material, first welding is easier, second You can weld from both sides to get realy strong repair. In this case it would be good to put some more metal over this part where rust was to reinforce it. After all this is a part of a structure, who knows how long it was driven like this.

Excellent how to. I'll go as far as to say, the best I've seen on YouTube! and I've watched dozens!
And you're the only person who has ever mentioned about disconnecting the battery! I kind of suspected that you needed to when you're welding, but as a 'Newbie' I didn't know for sure.
Thanks mate; )
Take care

Chris's videos pop up every now and again on my feed. I'm always taken back by his level of enthusiasm. He's been doing this for years and it always seems like his first day! Nice to see someone enjoying their work so much.

This is a fantastic informative video. I've got some serious welding coming up soon on a project. Only worry is draughts outside taking away my gas but hopefully we can shield things and get a few calm days to do the jobs.

Getting ready to do 2 floor pans and have watched at least a dozen YouTube videos. The is by FAR the most useful. Especially because ne shows how to weld while filming the actual welding from behind the helmet.

Ok, I started watching Chris removing stains from textiles, then I reached up to here, I guess the next video is how to make your own space shuttle.

So what's the deal with fuel system during weld? Do you drop the fuel tank and bleed the lines or something else? Thanks and sorry if dumb question.
