another method is to take a long zip tie or connect several together and go around your cable at the bottom and around the brace that your metal plate bolts to and just tighten up the zip tie until it pulls the cable down and back until the indicator lines up. normally if the wheel hasnt been turned, just pulling it back until the wheel touches the half of the bracket that isnt broke will put it right back where it needs to be. With this method it doesnt rely on the bracket at all vs the gluing or putting the zip ties between the cable and bracket.

My 2002 F150 shift indicator just broke and I was so happy that you had a video that covered this issue. Unfortunately my cable bracket was broken in three places and the epoxy wouldn't work. I was lucky as one of my local auto parts stores actually had one in stock. Everything went just like the video and I was able to have everything repaired for under 15 and an hour of my time. Many thanks, Chris!

My problem is a little different.
my shift indicator is random. sometimes it slides abit and then it gets perfectly aligned when i put it into P. but all messed up when you go into like. Drive the needle is pointing at reverse. if i put it into N and then back into D now the needle is pointing at the N
No clue what's going on

Could that bolt that was loosening out cause issues with the shifter shifting over when you move it to a specific gear. For instance sometimes when I move it over to a specific gear my line will move over to the next gear, and I have to correct it. This will work on a 2008 Ford ranger?

I watched your video and was able to fix the shift indicator on my 2010 Ranger several years ago. It's broken again, but now the loop at the end of the shift indicator cable is broken so I cannot attach it to the little hook at the end of the shift lever. :-o

You can actually skip most of this video. If you stick your head under that area and look up behind you can see the adjustment wheel and it's right there. if it's not broken you're able to adjust it without removing anything.

Hi Chris, Im having this issue but I have a Pontiac Vibe 2003, the gear shifter is between the seats. The alignment light is off, any idea how I would fix that? Thank you for your help, love your videos!

I was literally going to change the steering column in my 99 Ranger XLT because I thought I had linkage problems or a bad column, you just saved me a ton of money!

I just picked up a truck that shows its in reverse, but its really in drive. Reverse and neutral are between P and R.
Will this fix it?
