I had an aftermarket remote start on my 2000 Durango when i bought it from the previous owner. I called it Herby. I ripped that crap out. it use to start the truck randomly when I'd be sitting around at home or at the store etc. it was absolutely insane. I once woke up to it running, I honestly had no idea how long it was running.

Repaired a Edge that had a broken motor for the HVAC vent selector. Came across an aftermarket remote start in the process. Was completely afraid to touch anything. Had that liquid electrical tape painted on with 2 heavy coats. Couldn't even identify wire colors. Just cringe touching anything afraid something would fail.

I worked in a few shops many years ago and I also hated the aftermarket remote start crap. Even now I put stuff in my dash it's a pain to work around. So I started splicing connectors in whatever I wire. Could unplug it at certain points and remove it for service.

Mr. O, around 16: 00, you can see the connector, and it looks like the male part is not flush with the female. After you have a solid connection, it appears the male is flush with the female.

My gf loves remote starters. But I make sure they use t connectors. They say it makes it so they don t have to splice into the harness.
