we replace the two outer tie rod ends and I show you a down and dirty way to set the toe close enough to drive it to the alignment shop Justin: I used kroil for years at my last place of work. Never heard of it before. Its super thin and seems to work ok. My biggest complaint about Kroil is the larger cans run out of pressure before they are empty. I've used wd-40, pb blaster, liquid wrench. i would say kroil is closest to pb blaster. now, 10 years ago at a different job i used Zep 45. loved that stuff, smells like bananas. expensive though. but that would be my choice. it handles heat well too from what i remember. seems Zep makes pretty damn good stuff.

Great video Eric. details are good. Too bad, in my opinion, the left ball joint job did not request the right side be done also at the same time. I believe in doing those in pairs, like shock absorbers and tires. Also the tie rod ends, if you do one, do them all and be happy, especially if you will continue to own the vehicle for a long time. Darn Ford sure comes up with crazy ideas for steering knuckles on 4X4 vehicles. I think Dodge does the same or at least did for some years. Love those TTX ball joints!

I just did the right tie rod end and drag link end on my '08 this morning. My truck has the heavy duty front suspension and none of the aftermarket stores had a tie rod end that fit. Ford got me for 227 for a tie rod end (ouch. Fortunately, I'm a retired ASE master, so I do all my own labor. I used to tell people If I can do it, you can do it. The only difference between us is that I own 100K in tools and know how to use them.

An easier way to rough in a toe is to use a length of string taped to the outside sidewall of the back tire and run it to the sidewall of the front tire. You'll just have to adjust the tie rod so that the string touches the sides of the front tire lightly and equally along on sidewall of the tire. Basically, you're using the back tire as the straight ahead to line up the front tire.

Thanks alot for what you do man. I dont have the money supporting my kids as a single dad to drop 3 grand to a shop to get my front suspension done. Thanks to your videos, my confidence was solidified. My 2003 6. 0 f250 superduty is rolling right again. For 600 bucks in parts. I even went with the mevtech ttx balls and mevtech inner and outer tie rod ends. Again, a million thank you.

I have read that a survey was done by all military motor pool wrenchers and they all agreed that a 50/50 mix of ATF and acitone works best as a liquid wrench and any ATF works as well as another. and would be cheap to produce in bulk. and what the hell why not use your old ATF!

Love your videos, thanks for sharing. Completely understand about the phone calls as well as needing to get it off your chest once in a while. Don't worry about the mistakes that you catch. Everyone makes them and you rock! Hope the rest of your day goes smoothly!

I do think kroil is the best on the market but with that being said it needs heat cycles to work at its best which one could make the argument that the heat cycles is really what broke the fastener loose to being with. But it has saved my bacon many times.

I like PB blaster catalyst. You can see it turn rust into a liquid state ut im afraid i must agree that there isnt anything that will attack rust that isnt visibke to the eye. Shoulder bolts thru bushings haha

I enjoy the fact that you dont edit the tough parts out it makes it more believable. I dont feel so bad when things dont go as planned. I just give it a little more Ugga Duga.
