Aztec: Fixing A Misfire On The Cheap
video description
Not giving hate, just trying to understand more about shop rates.
Thank you for showing this as an option though and letting the customer know there were better options as well as cheap ones too. You are a wealth of knowledge and master of patience.

I get cheap as possible and its a beater but I think I would have spent the money for new wires and plugs myself! I respect the lady and all and thats just what I would do! I always hated customers wanting to not repair it correctly when I was a service manger or the ones that say I can do that myself or I have a buddy who can do this cheaper and lord help the safety issues like metal to metal pads and rotors or tires showing cords! And get this oh its fine I just came here for a oil change I have another 1000 miles in those

Why are y'all so critical? I am sure if Eric wanted to sell her some plug wires he could have. This is her second vehicle and she doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money on it so I'm sure Eric came up with an inexpensive fix that she agreed to. If Eric believed that the fix wouldn't work he wouldn't have agreed to it.
Eric bought her some time and saved her a little bit of money.

GM in Cda says to change plugs at 160k km so I was getting ready to change them on my small truck which has 155k km. But will pull one to check since this car still runs ok at 194k miles. Which is 312k km. Maybe mine still look like new. Gotta love those AC Delco platinum plugs. Phenomenal life it seems. Bob.

The insulation on the wiring on virtually all current vehicles sold in the USA contains an organic-based chemical that unfortunately tastes sweet to rodents. Only my newer vehicles have had issues with rodents chewing wires. My pre-1985 vehicles have had pack rats build entire nests and not one chewed wire.

Ever time I see an Aztec cant help but think of Breaking Bad. Old Walter White sold his for 50 and that was about all they were worth what I didn't get is he turned around and piked up a Chrysler after the Aztec. No taste in cars.

I wouldn't ever do it like that for one of my vehicles, but I can certainly understand the sentiment on the part of your customer. As long as she understands what's she's asking for it is perfectly acceptable.

Alot of people don't know about beater cars, do a video about the concept and purpose for winter salt conditions. We all use to drive winter beaters in the winter, save on our good cars. From Sodus, New York

In the 1970's, spark plug wire repair was a mandatory skill. New spark plug wires were in kit form back then, you had to crimp both ends if you were on a budget.

Call me crazy, but I like the Aztecs. This was, by the way, an excellent repair. Nothing wrong with it. Personally I would have gone for ignition tuning.
