he shows the repair on a 2006 Buick Lucerne with the 3. 8 engine Kirk: here's a good story for you, long ago i had a 1968 chevy nova, it took me some time to figure out what was wrong with my car, and possession by evil spirits had not been ruled out. the first symptom was while i was out with a friend and we were at a stop light, I heard what sounded like an engine miss then the gas pedal wend to the floor board. with 1 foot firmly on the brake i tried to put the toe of my show under the gas pedal and pull it up. with no success. as the rear tires started to spin and the car started creeping on a little yellow vw bug ahead of me at the light, i could see the little old lady at the wheel looking in the mirror, then she took off while the light was still red. I'm sure she thought there was a lunatic behind her. It soon dawned on me to turn off the engine. after restarting the car, tapped the gas a few times and all seemed normal. once home i opened the hood and everything looked ok, so i started it up in the driveway and started tinkering. the original engine was a 307 which was blown when i got the car, i dropped in a 350 out of a 70 station wagon. the 350 came with a Rochester Quadrajet. the Quadrajet had fairly small primary and massive secondarys, while just revving the engine a bit all seemed ok. then i opened the throttle enough to open the secondary's and the engine like to jump out of the car. The 68 nova had a mechanical linkage for the throttle, and when the engine torqued over it was pushing on the throttle linkage. obviously the connection with your video is a broken engine mount, but i'll never forget the look on that old ladies face.

It's almost 1 am so I will test this out tomorrow on my 2004 Ford Expedition. My upper radiator hose keeps blowing off and I tried new thermostat, new upper hose, new coolant cap, flushed the radiator several times. But was wondering if my motor mounts are in need of replacement and that's why my upper hose keeps popping off?
The first time it happened was when I really stepped into it in-order to get up to highway speed. Maybe that was when the mount or mounts failed enough for the first time.
The engine will run for weeks at proper temperature and then she'll pop again.
Never overheats either. just keeps blowing the upper hose. Hmmmm.
Great Video

The motor mounts issue is so common on these slightly older cars! But because the wear is so gradual, most owners don't notice them going bad. Until one day it has gotten so obvious that you need to change them. I replaced all 3 motor mounts on my 2003 Ford Focus and did them one at a time over a period of several days. After each mount was changed i noticed the engine was smoother under load. After all 3 were replaced it felt as if i had a new car again! No joke. Now she has 200k miles and still going strong.

My son had a Neon. Dont remember the year. Brought it in to the tire center to replace the motor mounts. They bought some cheap Chinese ones to put in and they both went bad. Had them replaced under their warranty. Car still made an odd noise. Looked up the appropriate video for the motor mounts and found there was a third mount under the battery box. I changed that one. Car still made an odd noise upon acceleration but otherwise ran fine.

I tested mounts on 07 impala. As soon as it was put in drive, the engine moved/torqued A LOT.
Did not even have to press the gas to see it was moving way too much. Symptom was vibration going down the road especially at certain speeds, 51 mph in this case. Already had tires rotated and balanced and did not fix. There are six mounts in a kit for impala. Some for motor, others for transmission. Thanks for posting.

1. Eric great video. I own a Civic and when I go forward at slow speed and when I reverse at slow speed, my dash vibrates and I think it is one of my engine mounts that needs replacing. Thank you for the instruction video.
1. Your wife made me laugh when she said. 'Well if it is wrong, it's your fault'. My wife says the exact same thing to me when she isnt sure of something but wants to avoid making an error.

Excellent video Eric. I am trying to change mine (2007 Lucerne) I can't seem to get leverage on that top bolt using the swivel though. I am afraid I might strip it. Also, do I need that flex head ratchet for that top bracket bolt, or can I get by with a swivel and a short extension? It seemed like you broke that one loose easily. Please advise.

brings to mind a friends 59 catalina; if he accelerated to hard the throttle/pedal went to the floor until the trans shifted. a fun experience. with my 17 year old enthusiasm i decided to put my hand under the linkage so i could stop the throttle from flooring. well, i STILL remember that experience! and the PAIN across my 4 fingers!

Guys, please help!
Got a '01 audi a4 b6, 1. 9 tdi engine, 130horse.
Chip tuned to 175horse.
When hard accelerating about +/-1900rpm, got a HUGE front vibration! Most noticibel when accelerating from 100kmph.
Clutch and dual mass flywheel replaced, drive shafts replaced.
Drives me crazy!

What! No fancy computer diagnostic tool via the OBD port? Just basically when you hear the clunk, order the engine mount. I finally have the tools needed. Wait except for the fancy snapon 200 ratchet, dammit!
