My driver side window would fall forward and wouldn't roll up either, after taking it apart i noticed the same thing window glass clip they called it was broken, i ended up replacing the whole window, then seen on amazon or something like that where they do sell those independent of the window, but i don't know what kind of glue they use.

I wouldnt have used the newer one, I would of copyed the locations on the newer one on to the old window. and fixed the issue, then replace it with a new one. Saving the issue of going a couple times to the junkyard. but good job ether way

I would have just cut two pieces off from a bicycle innertube, Slice through it, And glue and wedge it in the gap clamping it onto the glass, The missing plastic sheet could be replaced by slightly overlapping weatherproof tape

I've found that some gorilla tape on the bottom of the glass and use that sealant/glue for putting in windshields in the metal bracket for the window roll it up and leave it for 24 to 48 hour's work pretty well

I know this video is old, but you could have used the cracked glass to find the placement of the window attachments and then tried an experiment with epoxy or whatnot. Its what I would have done at least lol.
