Your honesty in explaining and demonstrating the true process is greatly appreciated.
I had an annoying noise at cold start up, I did some research and found out that it was the timing belt tensioner. Common problem for honda v6
I decided to buy the complete timing kit instead of just the timing tensioner alone.
I checked with several mechanic and they where giving me a run around, one of them even told me he could not pull the crank bolt.
After he had my vehicle for 8 hour's.
I purchased a horminacor balance from amazon, heated the crank bolt spray it with wd40 and used my 1/2 breaker bar, extension, 19mm socket and a jack stand and got it pull myself.
I'm a plumbing engineering not a mechanic but now because of you I have the know how.

Thanks for the video Eric! Just did my first 3. 5 liter on my 2009 Honda Ridgeline I bought a great kit for it came with water pump and everything you wasn't joking when you said that crank pulley bolt could be a bear I actually have that new tool made exclusively for that Bolt and I still broke two extensions 1 break over bar and 2 ratchets trying to break it loose ended up calling a mobile diesel repair truck and they finally got it broke loose using a 1 inch impact and I thought my 3/4 was a pretty good impact gun but it wouldn't budge it so after all that I finally got it all back together and it is doing well just preventive maintenance I absolutely love this Ridgeline next I think I'll tackle the differential give it a fluid change thanks again I'll be looking for the next video

Thanks for the well-done video. I recently bought a clean 2006 Pilot EX with only 125, 000 miles and there's no record of T belt replacement. (14 years old now. I removed a cam sprocket cover to inspect the belt and it looks like new, but I can see a faded part number and the word 'Honda' so suspect it is original. Strange that all other 105, 000 mile service items were done by the Honda dealer such as spark plugs, all fluids, serpentine belt, etc. Is there any other way to tell if it was replaced? . I'll use the Aisin kit as you did since it is OE quality including the water pump. I read other kits (Gates and AC Delco) come with low-quality water pumps.

Hey Eric thanks for the video I followed this step-by-step on this 2009 Honda Ridgeline and when I brought it up on TDC the cam closest to the firewall was one tooth Beyond the timing mark the other cam was dead on is this normal or should I put it back on the timing mark where should be I rolled the engine over four times with it like that and it still came up the same way tried to start it and it would not start so my question is should I just bring it back up to the timing mark on that canvas closest to the firewall and should I have disconnected the battery while doing this your help would be greatly appreciated

hello I have CRV 2009 ex 4wd 209000 km. there is no check engine light.
the engine make some noise and vibration at idle and hard
accelration power. the cylindre compresion is correct I have change
spark plugs. there is no leake and coil, injector are correct.
After scan honda say ther is misfire in cylindre 4 at idle. after
check they propose first a valve ajustment and if the problem stay
there propose chain kit change. what you think. if i change
chain kit does the engine will be correct or it is better change
engine. thank you

In Canada, our police officers make 150, 000 - 250, 000 per year. Mechanics make 80, 000 - 120, 000 per year. But the avg Canadian only complains about the price of car repairs, not about the price of Police Services.
Watching Eric work around those cars makes me realize how hard being a mechanic must be, in terms of the toll it must take on the body over a period of years. I couldnt be a mechanic for that reason - my body wouldnt be able to take the abuse. My knees, my back, my elbows etc just wouldnt be able to hold up over time.

Hello sir, so Ive been watching this video for an upcoming timing belt and water pump replacement on a 2012 Honda Odyssey. I recently had the 2012 Odyssey at the dealer for a safety inspection and they mentioned that the timing belt needed to be replaced based on time interval. The van only has 60, 200 miles on them. How can I tell for sure If this van needs it done or not? What do you recommend? Or how can I check if it needs it? Its low miles, but it is 7 years old now.

Hello Erick I have a question, I am in the process of changing the timing belt on my 09 pilot but the rear cam mark does not line up no mater how many times I rotate the belt so the front camshaft and lower crankshaft are fine but the back camshaft line is back like a tooth so how can I fix that, and yeah the engine was running but on park and rev the engine I was hearing like a knocking so I think thats the reason so can you help me how I can do?

Eric, I know this an old video, but its good watching, love your vids, one pet peeve of mine is the KEY vs KEYWAY thing.
the keyway is the slot the key slides into. also curious why you didn't replace the serpentine belt while you were there?

Eric you did a great job on that 3. 5 Honda V6 timing belt, main thing that I noticed is Honda made a really good design of making it work for you the mechanic you certainly don't see that from the American manufacturers, we the viewers of what you do you did great over and out.
