Porsche has been making GT cars for 20 years, and its latest offering is the 2020 718 Cayman GT4 - its mid-engined sports car which returns with a naturally-aspirated flat-six engine. Praise be. But while it's a great Cayman, just how good is it when compared to other great Porsche GT cars?

All this drifting and sliding around. Looks cool and all and is a real privilege for motor journalists to do on empty test roads or tracks that they've paid off. But the question I always ask is. When is the average punter in their own privately acquired car likely to really be trying to -test the limits of grip? - Most track days won't let you and the idea of me chucking my Ferrari around tight, generally quite low visibility public B roads bends in the UK either fills me with cold dread (ie don't want to write off my car) or just feels utterly unsafe to experiment with?
However, the temptation is there. And perhaps for some the temptation becomes too much and this is why so many sports cars end up as scrap metal before very long? Just a theory.

Bit of a marketing exercise now. not ltd numbers, heavier and not a lot faster than a 2005 Carrera S in a straight line. RS will be quicker obviously but both are firmly in GT3 territory financially. so why go second best? Can only think its built for the PCP market.

I would be very happy with a 718 Cayman GT4 as a daily driver. Manual, naturally aspirated well balance car with some creature comforts (not just for track) I would be very happy. Thank you for the video!

I feel sorry for Cayman. Because as long as it does not get the 911 badge porsche will keep it in the back ground. a fully developed Cayman will de throne 911. And Porsche will not allow that.

The 718 GT4 RS has been tested for some time now at Porsche, and it won't take too long, that we can see it as a production car. This car will be one of the Porsche highlights for 2020/21.

Love the old Beetle T-shirt. Having had both an old Beetle (with 160Hp) and an old Porsche (914 with 130Hp, I loved the video before even watching it.

Apparently the engine is not accessible on the new 911s! So you cant take it to your local mechanics to change the carburettors or the distrubutor!
