My opinion is that until Toyota can build hybrids in enough volume to meet demand and relieve the dealer gouging that is taking place in many cases, they are just blowing smoke up our collective butts. These vehicles are expensive enough let alone dealers adding thousands of dollars on top of Monroney, pushing them far out of reach of many people. Increase the allocation to the U. S. so that the additional dealer markup (ADM) goes away, and things go back to normal where there are discounts off the sticker price. I just got 9% off of a 54k sticker price vehicle (a hybrid Grand Highlander can set you back between 55k and 60k) If it had been a hybrid with, say, 5k of ADM, then that's almost 10, 000 in total, and 10k is a whole bunch of money to most people. Toyota, if you want to democratize hybrids, build enough to drop prices to a more affordable level. And enough so that people can actually have a selection right on the dealership lot.

I m not surprised the GH is a winner here. We traded our Pallisade for a GH Platinum Hybrid Max and it s a much better product in our opinion and for our use case. It has way more space on the inside, the Hybrid Max powertrain was genuinely a surprise to us, all 400lb-ft of that torque is truly felt when driving, I was very surprised but how quick it was. Not to mention that it is by far the biggest in the segment, at 5 11. I could comfortably fit in the 3rd row. Same thing could not be said for the Palisade or Telluride, plus being able to get 28mpg combined with all that power is genuinely awesome

Grand Highlander wins, if not the RAV4. It just makes sense with the best functionality, best fuel economy, best cargo capacity, and best reliability. Some Korean car fans in the comments complain the Grand Highlander isn t good, but there s really no excuse. People don t care about the gimmicks the Kia or Hyundai offers because Toyota has everything they want with what really matters like the fuel economy, functionality, and reliability.

The telluride is what deserves to be the SUVOTY. The cheap interior, no upscale looks, no features, the anemic base turbo 4 and a high price tag make the GH a nonstarter. The hybrid is the only good thing about it but that can only go so far
It doesn t matter if the telluride isn t the newest. Newer isn t always better.

The GH failed the crash test, is it still the winner? Our lives don t matter?
And, it s much easier to get bench seat for the second row in all other options in this segment but Toyota! 95% of all GH available on dealer lot have captain chairs, which is standard and bench is an option, Toyota should at least make the bench seat on xle trim standard!

Granted, Travis appears to be getting his mugshot, but if you listen to him he brings great information and perspective to the discussion. Perhaps he could use some media training more facial and body movements, more smiles, and more energy in his voice but he more than holds his own with Alex and that s saying something.

When we test drove the GH, my husband and I both started getting motion sickness from the jerky transmission and the side to side motion of the soft transmission. It s a shame, because it really was very nice inside. The Lexus TX was significantly smoother and less wallowy, but the MPG was terrible.

ONE thing I'd love to be included in these choices is dependability. It doesn't have to sway the entire choice, maybe one that's not quite as dependable is still a good choice with a few maintenance issue preemptively handled, but dependability should have some place in the evaluations.

Toyota/Lexus has been on fire this year in the SUV space with launches and reveals with their new hybrid powertrains. Sequoia was probably a big disappointment as a 3 row SUV it probably better of as a 2-row SUV as the third row and trunk capacity is a joke.

Grand Cherokee L is the best in this segment. Most versatility in terms of feature content from base to loaded trim, looks amazing, grand Cherokee reliability has always been good, off road ability, available V8, interior and much more.

What s the mid sized SUV winner? Cross trek is a little smaller than I want, but the telluride and grand highlander are a bit bigger. And i don t really do any off-roading and find jeep wrangler a bit much for city driving.

I m sorry, but THAT jeep, and THAT Subaru, are: is not an SUV. By any definition. Love your vids, but nobody would include either of those cars in a list of SUVs. Carry on!
