I'm watching this an year later. And I know you've been to Rajasthan India already but you still have Himalayas to see. While most parts of India get overwhelming The Himalaya are a bit mellow. The population is tolerable and if you come here in the off shoulder season the tourist is less as well. To have the best experience try visiting the states of Himachal( chamba, Dalhousie, Lahaul and Spiti, parts of Kinnaur and kangra valley), uttrakhand( Dehradun, Mussoorie and some other places, Meghalaya ( Shillong ) and (Darjeeling-town in west bengal ) are the best places to visit otherwise tibet, nepal and bhutan are the other countries you would love exploring. They're nice to be in. This is where I was born and brought up and they never dissapoint you. To get better information on where to go it is best to ask the locals. Hopefully i get to see a video soon. :) (P. S. a bike trip to leh and ladakh is popular among all Indians )

Can't believe you guys haven't been to India yet, gotta go I'm there now, just arrived in Goa a couple weeks ago. My 7th time to India. If/when you decide to go, I could tell you some amazing off the tourist trail spots to go. For a teaser, check out Orchha, Khajuraho, Srinigar, Mandu, Omkareshwar, Jaisalmer, Hampi, Leh, Manali, Joshimath, Almora (those last four are in the Himalayas. India is packed with epic spots, especially when you know the right places to go to.

India yes, I want to visit there too. One of my favorite musicians Trevor Hall just finished his trip there and he says he loved it because it is raw humanity, everything in the open. Rich, poor, sick, healthy, death, life. Sounds like a pretty incredible thing to experience.

I'm from Mexico and I'm with you, I'm yet to be in a country that has folklore music as grating as ours. and ranchero isn't even the worst, try tambora. makes me homicidal (fugly lyrics too. I think maybe bavarian music would come second for me, followed by senegal stuff haha

I actually did my senior thesis on the country of Tuva (part of Russia but right next to Mongolia, where throat singing comes from, because I was a fan of the Paul Pena movie Ghengis Blues. That soundtrack rocks. And if you haven't seen the movie, definitely watch it.

If I have a layover in a country that is strict about modesty, do I need to make sure I have pants/long sleeves/ head coverings like hat or scarf? Or are they less strict when it comes to people who are literally just passing through the airport?

Oh the himalayan mountain ranges are so good. Its like heaven on earth. You can really see how nature is almighty. Im from India and I always try to go for a 10 day trekking once in a year. its amazing. Love from India.
