TEXAS Border Towns: Where A PIG ROAMS The Streets Like He Owns It / San Ygnacio To Laredo (Part One) Love theses boarder towns n i must say Halloween has really taken of heir in Australia the last few years n people are celebrating more n more every year n it must be bc of the world being so connected now wit the internet n not to mention us Aussies have always followed wat the US does its like where half English n half America wit an aussie twist im thinkin. Some of theses houses being so out from the 1880s tell me this would have been the true wild west that we see in the Hollywood picture shows, ( movies ) n the true cowboy would have roamed this part of America, now to me thats fascinating.

I was born and raised in Laredo just a few miles up river. San Ygnacio has a very rich history. There are many archeological sites in the area. I urge your viewers to research. There is a historical society that is restoring a lot of its historical buildings. This is the Rio Grande Valley it has very unique flora and fauna. You have animals like the Ocelot, and the Amazon Kingfisher that are not found anywhere else in the US. Since it rarely freezes coupled with the rich valley soil plants can grow to immense size and age.
Great video!

When you went through Rio Grande City, you missed Fort Ringgold, which was constructed at the end of the Mexican War. It stood guard for nearly a century over the Rio Grande & Rio Grande City. In the 19th century, it was host to a many prominent military people, which included Robert E Lee, John J. Pershing & others. It now houses the educational administration offices for elementary & secondary schools. The original barracks still stand & it’s a very impressive place!

I laughed and laughed at you. Is that a pig just walking around There's another chicken crossing the road. No wait, he's coming back. No, he changed his mind, Nope, he's gonna make a run for it. No, guess he changes his mind! At a run down, abandoned house. there's a for sale sign in case you're interested in buying it! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA You may b surprised that some of those homes you called abandoned. may not be! Yuck!

The Spaniards had a great idea abt the walled homes. The Moors had the style of home to keep prying eyes off of their families as well as for security. In spite of the world falling apart around us, I felt much more secure living behind those walls when I did. Many things you can add such as broken glass bottles into the morter on the top of the walls to add layers of security.

You got a problem with pigs there, buster. Pigs is holy. God says not to eatem. He could be the duly elected mayor. He is too smart too be chief of police. He is no way affiliated with the humans referred to as pigs. Did you see all the illegal aliens. funny you mentioned it was very much like Mexico
You could say we never really stole it from Mexico.

In many States, if a person dies without a will, and no one is found that is kin the person dies intestate. The States I am aware of, the waiting time for a relative to appear, is 7 yrs. After that, the State Auctions the homes/land generally for taxes, and fee. In 7 years there can be tremendous damage from Storms, Vandals, Weather in general.

I love this town and this video! Wow, it was amazing and sad at the same time that many buildings are abandoned. The cross was a dedication to the young girl who perished there by her parents and her siblings. I often wonder when I see these types of houses like who used to live there and why were they abandoned. Very interesting

Basically your entire country would look much like that demonstrated in your videos. This is where European influence stops and Spanish influence begins. The poverty is strikingly different than what would be expected from two different cultural influences.

You missed the fort towards the river, my grandmother was the youngest granddaughter to live in the fort. The same families have lived there since they settled. It is recognized by the State of Texas. It’s a museum now.

My grandma's house resembles some of these incredible homes. It's still in pretty great condition. These houses just need to be updated but the old architecture needs to be preserved. Great video.

Wow! This has to be one of my favorite city tours you have done! I absolutely love all that historic architecture! Despite the fact that I live in Florida, the desert has my heart!

Realizing the need for border security but don't some of these barriers restrict American access to the riverbanks. It is like giving Mexico a thin strip of your country.

The way that pig looked at you, as soon as you said, Is that a pig Priceless! As if to say, What do I loom like Of course I'm a pig and of course I belong. Ha ha.

You are a good man, you did not even bother that spider web. They are amazing hardworking God's creature. You respected and walked around it instead of ruining it.

San Ignacio is a small Beautiful town. Several years back they would open some houses for tours. You could go inside them and see how they lived.

That place with the stick fence in the beginning is the river pierce foundation. The artist Michael Tracy lives and works from there.
