Here are 10 bushcraft skills that you can do with a tiny swiss army knife (or pocket knife. A swiss army knife is part of my EDC (every day carry) because it is small, lightweight and a really versatile piece of survival kit. I always carry a Victorinox and a Bic in my pocket. but the SAK usually will get clogged up with bits of dirt etc. over time. making it difficult to open etc. . so decided to think about what I could do about that. Bought a small leather pouch that zips up one edge off Temu. keeps the knife clean and the Bic is not as likely to lose it's fuel by rubbing against something. I also do not use my main blade in order to keep it clean and sharp in case I need it for surgery! I carry a couple other knives for every day use!

The best Bushcraft Multitool by Victorinox is in my opinion the Locksmith, a large knife which was sadly discontinued.
Big locking blade with 90 degrees half stop, metal saw with two different files, a long wood saw, the awl and corckscrew. Id say it could even replace a medium sized fixed blade bushcraft knife and folding saw. The locksmith paired with a hand drill and small pocket knife for carving is a pretty c)mplete tool set for the outdoor maker.
Great video btw, I really like the small stool.

Absolutely love your videos and it's good to learn new things. There's a lot that we already know, but it's good to keep on learning. especially with the way the world is going. A lot of people would be stuck in the world suddenly stopped, at least I know how to survive by keeping warm and sourcing clean drinking water. Anyway keep up the good work and keep making more videos like this because they are really interesting and we look forward to them every week: )

As a man who has dealt with -27c and 40c, deserts and woods. I have just encountered my first problem I don't have an answer for. I have a 5 year old son who wants to go camping with his dad and I am so excited because I do it properly. But I told him I'd get him his own knife and now I'm struggling! I literally have no idea what to get him

Carried a sportsman daily since around 2007. Very battered & worn but still just as good. Retiring the sportsman to household use only to be replaced by a tinker. For out & about adventures & in the car I bring my ranger. A bantam is my office knife, opens, makes & helps make lunch

I have 3.
1old champ from the 90s which has done everything and more and still going. Last year I got a new champ plus the mini champ and use them both daily.
The best knives I have ever owned, and I have owned and lost most

Carried a Swiss for more than 30 years at this point. Damn thing saved my life more than once. A simple blade and a couple of basic tools, and you can build a shelter, a fire, gather food and water, and make most else you need.

There is an area in the White Mountins that has 100 square miles of all white Birch trees the native Indians would make canoes and shelters long houses with birch bark exterior and bear skins for insulation!

Great video Mike . I always have my Victor knocks ( swiss knife ) E. D. C, . Way better than those Leatherman made in China parts & assembled 2gether USA. Just some that the company can say it's made in the USA.

I love my Swiss army knives. I have a 55mm one I constantly use at home, another 55mm I always bring with me outside, and a 111mm one for when I actually go camping. They're so useful and never break.

Great vid, Farmer X SAK is my daily carry wherever i go with my Opinel No9 for over 3 decades now, bought my kid the scout SAK a few years ago and is put to use wherever camping.

Fascinating tips! Who would think that a small folding knife could produce such a large mallet I carved wooden wedges in the past, but I keep forgetting that 'hack. '

How do you sharpen any small knives you use all I really have is a stone I've oiled up a bit. I think I picked it up in B&Q or somewhere like that so probably not great.

Hi Mike, I love your videos especially the bushcraftskill videos. I have a huntsman wood and my question is what do you use to preserve the wood Thank you in advance
reply

I don’t know if its because I was born in the 80’s and grew up with MacGyver or not but there is a real charm in using a Swiss Army knife for bushcraft.

All wood splitting should be done this way, regardless of knife type. Beating your blade with a club, like some neanderthal savage, is asking for trouble.

You are a great teacher! A swiss knife was the first camping tool I got as a teenager. Still works great. Thanks for a couple new tips.

The Evowood is my favourite knife. I just want someone to do a vid putting tweezers in the scales rather than sticking it between the tools.
