I’ve been wanting to get on a metroliner myself. Here in my native Ontario, Bearskin Airlines operated by Perimeter Aviation have a bunch and fly them all over Northern Ontario. I’ve been wanting to get up to one of the smaller communities with them but their North Bay-Sudbury-Ste. St. Marie-Thunder Bay milk run is probably a safer bet. I was going to do it this past week but opted to wait until summer for when everything is properly thawed off.

Keylime air in the states also flies the sewer pipe. well they have one less working right now
cause the one went off the runway for some Arkansas off roading during a checkride lol it was sad the poor thing was nose down about to go into a drainage ditch

For as long as I can remember up until the pandemic, Air Canada ran regular flights between Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, where I live, and Halifax, Nova Scotia on a De Havilland Canada DHC-8. I used to love flying on the Dash-8 puddle jumper, and it gave you a lot more connection options out of Halifax, but a lot of people were terrified to fly on it for some reason lol

You need to come to Canada and fly the Metroliners of Bearskin Airlines that do a run from North Bay to Thunder Bay stopping in Sudbury and the Sault. We call them flying culverts and the airline, you can figure that out. They also fly west from Thunder Bay on a milk run to Winnipeg. Stop into the Bush plane Museum in Sault Ste Marie. Thanks as always.

BAE 146 is my favorite! These planes would fly out of Madison WI. as United Express. Compared to the other small RJ's that UA had these felt larger they were so nice, quite and smooth. and that helped make the overall experience on this plane feel like no other. I wish that they were still in production and would love to fly on them again soon.

Hi Noel.
Damn I missed you.
I work at Textron Aviation at Essendon.
If I'd known you'd be in the area we could have got into our hangar and you could have had a look around the BizJets we look after
(A bunch of Cessna Sovereigns, Citations and Mustangs)
There's even a Global Express that I built when I was working in Belfast.

I don’t think I’ve been on a Metroliner, but I have an odd affection for the Short Bros. 360, which for a while connected some smaller airports in the midwestern United States with bigger ones. If any are still in service I probably won’t go to much effort to fly on one again, but I would still like to. Lots of passenger headroom!

The first time i heard and learn about the Metroliner was from a documentary film about a Metroliner crash landed upside down at Cork Airport in Ireland in 2011. I think my favorite aircraft is the Boeing 737 Classic, Next Generation, Boeing 747-400, Airbus A320ceo, Airbus A380, A340, A330, and the Swedish Saab 340 turboprop.

Its great to see you chatting to the co pilot and the quirks of the aircraft. It must be an intimidating dating job flying that route. Id imagine King Island is windy as the winds known as Roaring 40s race through Bass Strait.
The Island is also well known for great cheese and dairy products. We love it here in Australia.

My favourite aircraft, probably the BAe146 / RJ. Didn't fly too high or particularly fast put nose on probably one of the greatest looking aircraft ever with short field performance that was the envy of many. Spent a lot of time on them and I do miss them. And British made when that actually meant something.

Sharp, eh
The only airline that's crappier than Rex.
I know about them because I live in Tasmania and we're the only place in Australia which will put up with crappy service, because we're desperate.
Did I tell you they were crappy Oh yes, and also very expensive considering how short the flights are.

I consult to an oil and gas company in Perth as their Aviation Advisor. We have an SA227 Metro on contract to move our workers to remote airports in WA and the NT. They are old but reliable and very tough. There is no other type which will work for us for what we need, no OEM makes 19 seat planes any more.

I have flown on sharp airlines on multiple times to Flinders island (not Flanders island ) and they are lovely. Amazing crew and service.
King island is nice but Flinders is stunning.
Also you can get goods and services into the island by boat too. its not just air service Noel haha. a little fib there

At least you used family the friendly nicknames! There are a few more that aren't so family friendly, but still funny in their own ways.
Have about 3000 hrs flying metro's as a pilot, single pilot. both a difficult and rewarding airplane to fly. Master flying a metro and you can fly anything.

I have no guilty pleasure planes, as I haven’t flown much. But the oldest planes I remember being on were MD80s from USAir in 1991 going from PHL to MCO and back when I was 7. The worst plane was 50 seater ERJ 145 from CLT to TYS (Knoxville, TN) in 2010. That was a tin can and felt like a sauna.

I'm a military (and occasional civvie) aviation geek, and I remember the Metroliner being in service with both the US Air Force (flying into and out of RAF Mildenhall) and the Belgian Air Force (flying into and out of RAF Waddington and RAF Mildenhall) usually carrying personnel for airshows.

This is bringing back memories. I used to work at the hospital on King Island. Used to visit from Tasmania for several days a month and run clinics. I've spent plenty of time on those metroliners. Can be a bit hairy in the middle of winter.
Was a great time in my life.

I do love a prop aeroplane, and this truly is an old workhorse. Great staff and crew form that airline. Another cracking video as per, and you also managed to find a cheeky Nando’s’
My favourite guilty pleasure aeroplane is the De-Havilland Sea Vixen.

A street away from Essendon airport - at Essendon Fields, is a lovely food precinct, take a stroll and check it out! Essendon Airport is primarily used for private jets and Air Ambulances, not commercial travel, worth noting for you international viewers!
