Here's What Happens When You Fly Tajikistan's National Airline Sean: Somon Air is not actually the national flag carrier for Tajikistan. Somon Air is a privately owned company in Tajikistan headquartered at Dushanbe International Airport. Although Somon Air is a privately owned company it also serves as the official carrier of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and other Tajikistan high-ranking officials.
The national flag carrier for Tajikistan is Tajik Air which is in dire straights and near to collapse. Tajik Air simply lacks the funds to pay aircraft lessors and owes a significant amount in taxes and other payments.
It seems that the Tajikistan government is in the process of sacrificing Tajik Air in favour of supporting the privately owned Somon Air.

This is still a country that is based on dictatorship. They treated their intellectuals and fellow Ethnic Pamiris as outcasts as they killed and made an enemy of the people. The people are way too connected and intelligent. They are waiting patiently. If things keep getting worse there will be a civil war but it wont be the Pamiris that cause this.

I've flown from Istanbul to Dushanbe with Somon Air and I must admit I was very impressed too. You are right about the hostess uniforms - quite unusual but very classy. And Dushanbe is an amazingly clean and safe city. I enjoyed the video and great to see Somon getting a bit of publicity

I love the fact that you fly with airlines and go to places all over the world that aren't super known or big. have you ever flown to St. Helena before? from what i've seen it's a bucket list flight, would be really cool to see you do a video on that
reply

Welcome to Dushanbe,
But. Somon air is not a national airline its a private airline from someone close to president.
The National Airline is TajikAir, but unfortunately they did what they want to the National Airline

Hey Noel, I've got an idea for the descriptions in future videos. I was thinking why not add the icao airport code into the description so people can replicate the flight on various flight simulator games

Noel, I caught a video from one of your competitors on an ANA business class flight. I'd much rather see you review that one. It looks very nice but the reviewer wasn't very Noel-like.

Loo explanation: we 3rd-world countries squat-shitting when there is no sitting toilet available, and that habit sometimes stays on some people, hence the sign

The very fact that Tajikistan has a national airline, let alone municipal water and electrical power, befuddles belief. This is the backward of the backward.

Just discovered that Uzbekistan Airlines has a transatlantic flight from Tashkent to New York. This seems like something Noel should try!

As always, great video, Noel. My condolences to you and the British nation on the loss of the Queen. Where you at home or abroad when you got the news?

Every time Noel says Dushanbe I automatically think of the film 'Spies Like Us' as that's about the only time I've ever heard the city mentioned.

Would have liked to have seen the hotel room. The lobby looked very nice, I wonder how the room was. That little kid was awesome! Thanks Noel!

Great video as always. I was intrigued by the Tesco Clubcard to get into the lift of the hotel at the start of your trip to Istanbul!

I think the little boy in the clip said his name is Samir, not Samuel. He looked confused as hell when you were calling him Samuel

Well done as always Noel. Thank you for introducing me to a country and airline I was not aware of! Great video once again.
