Made it. Flying back to the USA in 2021 Ludwig: My Mom and Dad knew a Gentleman who was a Manager of Braniff Airways in Mexico City. He claimed that the salary and benefits were better than the competition.
It was very nice in the 1960s in Acapulco and Mexico City. In Mexico City, we knew very well a German Family, which the Husband built their own house there. The daughter who was the same age and had the same Christian name, bought a Plymouth Valiant, which Mexico is famous for manufacturing, as well as other Latin American countries.
Also, I remember in Acapulco, my Dad and I were driving a Jeep there. Acapulco was always a nice city. My Mom liked Acapulco at that time because Acapulco was a nice city with it's famous beach.

Is the airport in Mexico City still the old one? The waiting-to-board area looks really familiar. I remember seeing the scraped earth and bones of the new airport the last time I was in Mexico City in Sept of 2018? I am hoping to get down to Cabo San Lucas in the next year or so. Flying from Eugene, OR to Las Vegas next Sunday. I am praying for clear days there and back. It is a gorgeous flight crossing the spine of the a Sierra Nevada range.
P. S. We traveled on two cross-country trips with absolutely zero issues during the first 9 months of the travel restrictions here in the U. S. Two more trips since then, including a two week move from north Alabama to southern Oregon.

I had a tear in my eye that you were so moved about coming back to the States! It was wonderful to see. I'm from the USA and I fly at least once per year to Europe so I cannot wait until most if not all countries open up to travel again. I consider Italy my second home so I know I'll be emotional when I'm on the flight to Rome, whenever that may be. I'm glad the Verifly app is easy to use. I have it downloaded on my phone but won't use it until Europe is open. Looking forward to your next episode

The news you hear about the United States does not reflect at all the country I was born in and am PROUD to be a citizen of. Americans, overall, are very welcoming and open to visitors. Staying safe here is like anywhere else in the world, be mindful of where you are and have common sense. The majority of Americans are proud of our country and love to hear that people genuinely enjoy visiting. Welcome back Noel! And yes I know i'm a bit late commenting lol, but the sentiment is the same.

Hi Noel. Ive watched literally every one of your videos over the past few months. Not only are they brilliantly done, but it helps me with my travel addiction. Youve probably helped more people and not even know. For that, I just wanted to reach out and say thank you. The good news is that I get to fly next month and I cant wait. Hope to get some good video! Take care brother. Jared from DC.

Living in the US I'm looking forward to touching down again in the UK, that'll certainly have a tinge of emotion. With the quarantine requirements (vaccinations-be-damned it seems) I've not made it home for a visit in over a year and a half. On the other hand we only had a month complete lockdown last year and things are pretty much back to normal, so much jealousy from friends and family.

Great video
I have been thinking of getting into the US via Mexico.
I left the US last March just before the ban.
My husband works in Orlando on a o1 visa I have a o3 visa. But went back to the UK as my Mum was not well. Shes fine now but I have been stuck here in the UK for over a year and havent seen my husband.
What questions did they ask you at US immigration?

If you ever get a chance, you should visit the USAs own Air Capital, Wichita. Its a smaller city, but theres a bunch of the airplane manufacturers that have a bunch of factories here, from Cessna to Spirit and Boeing. Also just a lovely small city in general that even houses one of only 2 flight operational B-29 Superfortresses in the world.

Hey Noel, only just discovered you- I'm a Brit, you don't mention visas, I take direct BA Flights to and from Mexico to avoid US Immigration; did you get your US visa in Mexico? US Consulate? Easy?
How hard is it to get one in the UK? Do you have to turn up at the embassy?
Thanks for your info
Nick

Im so happy this video popped up in my recommendations because Ill be traveling to Mexico soon to visit family and I was freaking out about how difficult it might be to return home to the US but if I can basically get everything done right at the airport and use that VeriFly app itll be helpful.

Watching back this video I am kind of confused. I traveled 3 times between Costa Rica and Miami in 2020/21 (September, December and March) and only the last time I needed an antigen test to get in (which they didn't even check in Miami. No Verifly and no quarantine upon arrival.

Very helpful video. Were you able to enter thee USA because you have a particular visa or will an ESTA work if travelling from Mexico?
Oh, and btw enjoy your time in Mexico, a wonderful country: history, culture, architecture, and of course the people.

I've never liked MEX, even as a kid I was scarred on the Mexicana flight from ORD to MEX. I have seen they've updated it but last time I flew through there some restrooms were non-functional and the place still smelled like burning trash

Two of my kids live in Maui along with my three grandkids! And you miss America! I haven't been back for nearly two years. Back in the day, I flew PanAm all the time, now BA or AA. But I have used WestJet and Air Fungas (lol)

why would anyone travel after watching this. sounds like torture. also American Airlines is 99. 9% a HORRIBLE experience full of entitled spoiled employees. I hope they go out of business when the welfare checks run out.
reply

Lovely. Would love to go there again as well, and as far as I know it's possible from Indonesia now, but on the way back there is quarantine now, so currently not yet worth the extra tests and waiting once back.
reply

Why are you quarantining on arrival in Miami? Florida has no restrictions. Im proud of you for doing so, but I thought you would have loved the opportunity to travel domestically here while you can.
reply

Hey, there, I didn't see anything about the immigration at the FL airport.
Was your immigration done at MX itself and wasn't required when you landed in the US?
Please could you share

reply

I too miss travelling to America.
I was in New York last March, at the beginning of lockdown. I cannot wait to return. Thanks Noel for your usual excellent review. Keep up the good work.

Loved this video! #AmericanAirlines is always my carrier of choice when flying to the United States outside of our network! I absolutely love the AA crew, both on the ground and in the air!
