This is a temperate rainforest. Temperate rainforest ecosystems are even more fragile than tropical ones. And, unlike tropical rainforests, temperate ones are rare around the world. In Japan, only yakushima has a relatively complete temperate rainforest ecosystem. Humans should work harder to protect temperate rainforests, just as they do in the tropics.

Breaks my heart to see this. I grew up here, and when I was a girl, you couldn't see the sky through the trees. Then they went in and logged it. So sad to see it right after, but better in this video.
