Try a Sundrop! Or a cherry lime Sundrop frozen! Local soda pop is choice soda! And of course the cheerwine! Go to Gastonia to Tony's ice cream! Downy Belmont is amazing little growing town on the water! In Charlotte. I always love Merts Heart and Soul, get the soul roll for sure! Midnight diner is amazing! Beat grits you ever had! Don't add anything! Dames chicken and waffles in Greensboro! The Charleston house was amazing! I moved so I don't know if nots still there. And try a fish camp! You will find them in Gaston county! If you don't know what that is then you need to go! Captions cap in Belmont has the best homemade ranch dressing and sal's bar (before covid the bar was amazing) Kyle Fletcher BBQ and Hillbillies BBQ in Mcadenville. aka. christmas town USA. google it!

North Carolina all my life here, the international food in the big cities is no slouch. Its not like New York City or someplace like that of course, but for most cuisines, there are usually one or two options at least in the big cities. Like here in Charlotte, theres a food truck that makes Tibetan food, you can get Shanghai soup dumplings like you get in New York, you can get great Middle Eastern food coming out of the ears, Mexican food everywhere thats awesome, plenty of place for Indian food, youve got Ethiopian food, youve got Korean barbecue, Korean fried chicken, pretty much whatever you want except Filipino food and things like that, we have at least one restaurant and serves in Charlotte.

Personally not a Bojangles Fan. The ones I've been to didn't do fried chicken justice at all. Duck Thru has the best fried chicken ever! Or go to a good Golden Corral. That chain was started in N. C. We also have sweet smoked BBQ that's amazing. :) I grew up down the road from a meat market. Folks would drive from New York with coolers and go to that meat market. Best food in the world here!

Ashevillian here. The best BBQ place in Asheville, in my opinion is Moes Barbeque. They got all the good stuff, pulled pork, ribs, and even a swordfish sandwich thats real good. Order anything off the menu and you'll be happy. And of course they've got all the local beers on tap.

Green tomatoes are good. But try the yellow ones for frying. They're actually better. Personally, I've fried up all types & there ain't one that ain't good & that's a fact. Homemade Luzianne sweet tea, homemade sweet potato pie & only Dukes will do on the mator sandwiches.

So for the bbq there are two styles in NC: Lexington and eastern. Eastern style is vinegar and pepper based with no tomato used in the sauce. Eastern style also uses the whole Hog. Lexington style uses tomato, vinegar and red pepper flakes in its base.

I love being from NC, cause it is my home state. Born and raised here. It have everything you want to tour. The beaches and the landmarks like the Biltmore house the beaches the foods drinks the sweet tea and it's cities and towns. Hope you enjoy it.

If you're at a NC local BBQ place, don't overlook the Carolina-style hamburgers. These are prepared with mustard, chili, onions, and cole slaw (preferably the red BBQ slaw) and take burgers to a whole different level.
