The ATM fee comment reminded me of a helpful group I found years ago: the Global ATM Alliance. In Canada, Scotiabank. in the US, Bank of America. Barclays in the UK, BNP / BNL in France & Italy, Deutchebank in Germany, and Westpac in Australia / New Zealand, all waive all ATM fees (both what their ATM would charge and what your bank would charge, for each other's customers. I bank with Scotiabank in Canada, so when I visit the countries of other alliance member banks (so far, USA 4 times, France, Italy, UK 4 times, and Germany later this year, I make a point of only using other alliance members' ATMs, to get access to cash for no charge, as if I were at a Scotiabank machine with Euros / USD / AUD / GBP. I even weight it as a factor when choosing a hotel. Is there an alliance member bank nearby? If you already bank with any of these, and travel to any of these countries, it's a sweet perk. Take advantage.

Aside from the fact that you can't really accurately compare the U. S. and Canada due to the massive difference in scale, I'll never understand these generalized comparisons of geographically huge places. Go to Ottawa and that becomes in Canada they. Even though they might do things completely differently in say, Edmonton, which would be more similar to Montana than it would be to New Brunswick. You can more accurately compare regions because cultural differences in North America are more regional than national. Its a spectrum. Ahh, imaginary lines.

With the antics of Trump's presidency and his action of the 2020 election is concerning but what makes most of us Canadians fearful is the larger number of Trumpers that still can't except the fact that Trump lost. In all reality, this is a USA matter. From a Canadian perspective, we really don't want such weak minded individuals in our country. For myself, I have lost all desire to risk my life to enter your country for ant reason. If we mutually agree to stay in our own countries then we will be both happy.

North America culture runs north and south rather than east west----I live in BC which is the western most Canadian province and our culture and people are much more like the culture/people in Washington State rather than Toronto, Ontario---in Toronto they are much more like those in New York state as we have nothing in common with Toronto---and I mean nothing----we have a style of living which is commonly called west coast'

If you're visiting Canada, PLEASE avoid going to Tim Horton's. They were great 20 years ago, but about 10 years ago they got bought out by a Brazillian consortium and the quality has fallen off a cliff. The coffee is terrible and the pastries are utter TRASH.
There's 2nd cup, Blenz and other local chains who are still Canadian and still offer great value.

I really appreciated the border crossing into New Brunswick. The officer greets you with a friendly, 'Bonjour, Good Day'. Her followup conversation is done in the language of your response. This makes a traveler feel most welcome. Let me know if you start accepting Floridian refugees!

The sports are very similar. They have many of the american sports such as baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. I think it would be good to go to maybe a CFL or NHL game in Canada as I think it would be a fun experience.

In Ontario a flashing green traffic light indicates advanced green. In other provinces it varies. For instance, in British Columbia a flashing green light indicates a crosswalk or a drawbridge.

Regarding languages in The USA:
Yes, English is the MAIN language. But, there are pockets of many different languages spoken in The USA, with Spanish being the big second language.
