Holland, MI - Grand Haven, Saugatuck, South Haven I remember beach hopping all the way from St Joseph to Manastee and then visiting Mackinaw island our first trip scouting out Michigan. Many trips followed over a decade or so. Upper peninsula has even more to enjoy from the Soo locks to Whitefish point to Pictured Rocks national park to Copper Harbor. If you like lakefront vacation time you cant go wrong when the weather is to your liking. Being only 3 hours from the state line makes it nice for us to do a day trip or an overnighter camping in the car. Cheap fun for us.
Out of the area in this vid Grand Haven is our favorite. South Haven and St Joseph wins the day trip award with Warren Dunes and New Buffalo good as well. Dont forget to grab fresh blue berries when in season. Farmers markets in abundance are our preference for a quick lunch along the way. Many have fresh baked goods available.

Iv been there many times, absolutly beautifull area in the spring summer, and fall. The climate is wonderfully cooler in the hot summer. In the winter, nightmarish snow and ice storms off of lake Michigan! Thay can streatch all the way to Grand RAPIDS. Most Locals are of Dutch desent, I think you can buy your wooden shoes in Wall Mart!

Originally tulips come from Turkey. Even many Dutch people don't know that. But wow, Holland is a wonderfull place, especialy the green wetlands and the coast, the dunes, the forests. Except of fishing and eating other animal products (leave animals alone) erything is wonderfull!
Regards from The Netherlands (Vriendelijke groeten uit Nederland.

As someone from Holland (The Netherlands) i must say that i see some of the culture very americanized. I would like to see it someday. I wonder what else there is left from the culture the founders of this area brought. Are there any dutch speaking people still

Beautiful video. Suggest you check out the working Dutch Windmill in Fulton, Il. As i understand it, It comes from Holland and was built by Dutch artisans in the city of Fulton. It is a working windmill. My uncle came from Holland Mi. It is a beautiful city.

The only bad thing about Grand Haven is the expressway ends at a drawbridge that malfunctions at the worst times, and when it does you are sitting and waiting. I commuted there for 15 years, and I don't miss driving through it one bit.

Went to Mackinac Island and Detroit ages ago. The whole western and upper peninsula is GORGEOUS. People think of Detroit and don't realize the architectural and natural beauty of these other places.

With so many beautiful areas throughout the U. S, it is nice to see Michigan spotlighted for a change. This video shows the very best of what we here have always known (and perhaps taken for granted.

Nice to see how things are on the other side. I live in Holland, The Netherlands actually. One thing we absolutely don’t have is a Vanilla Latte in our coffeeshops At least not in liquid form

This video had so much potential but it quickly became unwatchable. The editing is terrible - the video shots are too fast and dizzying to watch.
Also, Holland is not pronounced Ho-land.

it says that you are going to Eastern Michigan at the beginning. Holland, Grand Haven, and Port Sheldon are in Western Michigan. I have first hand knowledge. (Live in Grand Haven)

Thanks, that was useful. I'm heading that way on vacation soon. Driving around Lake Michigan to photograph lighthouses and ride my bicycle. May end up staying in South Haven for 2 days.
