There are very few athletes in the world who manage to change even the rules of their sport. But every time one of them shows up, not even the people in charge of the sport can stop them. This is the story of one of them. Imagine being a teenager and swimming 5 hours every day. When you turn 15 you finally get to the Olympics. That's already a big accomplishment for most people. But not for you. Coming in 31st only gives you hope to keep trying for 4 more years and try to get to number 1. The coach tells you that you need to swim more. So you start swimming 7 hours a day. Not many people can withstand that physical torture for 4 years. But you survive and you make it to the Beijing Olympics in 2008

it would be nice if you made a video about the most famous swimmers, about what results they had at 10-20 (if you can find such information, of course). years to see their development dynamics. I think it was an interesting video. even several such videos could be made, for example, separately about men and separately about women. And thanks for the video!

I had a similar issue. Overtraining. I then went through a crisis when I was 15, and decided to stop caring so much. Trained less, put on some muscle and weight, and obviously became much stronger. Suddenly I became really competitive and felt healthier etc.
Overtaining is an issue

Thank you for this. I had no idea about the ISL. I've seen Peaty compete in it and it looked really modern and fun. To see this backstory of Katinka really does make me respect her achievement even more. A great example of someone following the road less travelled.

Yes, mental attitude has a huge impact, but especially with professional athletes, overtraining is a big issue, so to train 20% less and get better results is no unexplainable miracle, or a issue of mind, but a simple effect, which is known even to hobby athletes

Definition of a disruptor! In a positive way that is, disrupting and redefining the existing industries, standards and normalities for the better! Going against the grind and creating a path that many can now utilize and benefit from! Legend!

This story inspirational
Even for a champion swimmer like her need to find what's going wrong and identify the mistakes she is commiting and changed the history.
What an inspiration

Quality not quantity. But don't underestimate how much the high volume at a young age helps later on. But again high quality volume is better than simply putting in the miles.

Hosszu is one of the most complete legends of swimming. Even if she did beat our Emily (Seabohm) in backstroke.
Hosszu was at another level to the rest of the world.

So encouraging and inspirational no matter what life throws your way. We know our bodies better than anyone, it does tell us what we need to succeed in life.

Clearly mental health and attitude plays a big role. This is not to disregard the hours you put it, but this combination goes a long way.
