Im 36 and for the past 2 years I've switched to a mostly protein diet. It has improved my gains and life in everyway. I feel 18 again, hair, skin, teeth, energy, sleep, strength and cognitive speed have drastically all improved. I weigh 78kg and height of 1, 83m. What I can say is forget the calculations, I dont care what size or age you currently are, just consume 160 - 200g protein everyday and fast every second weekend. You can skip a day or three here and there.
As for the offical formula, its at least 2g per 1kg of body weight.

Maybe older adults tend to not have much of an appetite so they eat less food less often whereas younger people especially teenagers seem to have a neverending appetite and are always eating so maybe if an older man eats like a teenage boy he's more likely to grow like one

These recommendations are unrealistic with a healthy, balanced diet when you also trying to lose weight, so every calorie counts, while you still need to eat some fats and carbs.

Excellent video I am 46yrs old and if I drank a protein shake before bed 3: 23, I would be running to the washroom in 2hrs!
