Hey Jeff. If he always liked your videos. Over the years I'd forgotten that your athlean-x app, at least kept me with a good core workout. Nowadays am not n a situation where my primary job is not sitting behind a desk for hours, I'm getting to be one of those 'older' guys you referred to and I put on a lot body fat since falling away the weekly trainer g sessions. My question is about recovery. Since restarting training, I now spend a considerable amount of time working much harder in job than in my training sessions. So much so that I've change my session from 4-1 split to 3-1 split Nd now I am at a 2-days on and 2 days off split. I was actually back on track with fat loss and progressive training. Now I'm hitting a wall. At this point I am consider holding off on the resistance traing and only doing early HIIT cardio. Any suggestions?

I would think that riding a bike is the best, I burn 21. 98 calories a minute. I weight 240 pounds and at 17. 2 mph average I burn like 1, 318 calories an hour: o but I go 20 miles so its more like 73 mins 1, 604 I do that twice a day to and from work x3 so 3, 209 calories in under 2 1/2 hours: D so think of it like this. my bmr is about 2300 so if I eat 2300 calories I will profit 3, 209 calories a day x3 and I think 3, 500 calorie deficit is a pound of fat or something so basically a pound a day x3 with only 2 1/2 hours of excerise which btw is only like 1 1/2 hours cuz it would take 1 hour to drive to work and back which is time I would have to spend anyway x3 so I would say you cant beat a bike for calories per minute: o

Hey Jeff! How accurate are those HR monitors like Fitbit, Apple Watch etc. I have bose in ears with hr monitor. I got an app and plugged in my age weight etc and run it while I work out. It says w no cardio I average 6-700 cals a session and with cardio around 12-1400 cals. I'm 6'5 241 lbs (I've dropped from 260 in 3-4 weeks) I've never tried to cut down and get abs for summer but I am trying this year. Just trying to see if this number is accurate and how that affects my deficit. I watched your video about cutting and set it at 100 cal cause according to the app I'm biting so many cals

When you are in a caloric deficit this happens:
1. your body recognizes that you need to use your stored fat as energy.
2. your body lowers the insulin level in the blood.
3. when the insulin level drop, your fat cells release their stored fat.
4. lastly that fat is used as energy.
Knowing this doesn't directly help you lose fat, but I still find it easier to lose fat if I know exactly what happens in my body. It gives me a clearer picture of what happens inside me, and that helps at least me.

Question on the sprint. Is it a sprint or more of a hard run? I know this is getting a bit into semantics, but I've always associated -sprint- with running as fast as you possibly can. And as such, only something you can really do for about 30 seconds or so (unless you've been training in 400meter dashes. In this video it looked like more of a hard run, so I wanted some clarification on that.

I have to take issue w sprinting over 40-50 secs, unless the person is extremely slow / out of shape, anything over 30 secs of sprint becomes an anarobic endurance exercise like running the 400, you can always run more sprints if u just want to hit a certain time of exercise milestone, but each sprint should be below 30 sec at 80-90% capacity

Why does eveyone bloat up the calories burned per hour?
if i have a basal calorie count of 2400 on non w/o days im burning 200 calories per hr doing nothing or whatever my normal activities are.
If an intense hr of cardio is bragged up to burn 700 calories isnt the truth its closer to 500 cuz i wouldve buned 200 anywas just watching tv

Cycling one of best ways to burn fat, change pace of your speed from slow to faster for a few minutes challenge yourself by riding up steep hills not just one but a lot more, keep a snack or snacks with you and drink water so it suppresses your appetite when you get home, my honest opinion cycling is better to lose fat than any training in a gym

Hi, I-m a 41 yr old male that-s 5 ft 7 in. I am currently 180 lbs, I am trying to determine how many calories I need to eat each day to slowly lose fat and build muscle. I weight train 4x-s a week and cardio once a week or so. I have seen ranges from 1800 calories to 2700. Can anyone help narrow this down?
reply

at the end of my bulk i was burning 5200 calories a day, at the end of my cut i will be burning 3000 calories a day. it all depends on what you are eating. your diet controls everything in fitness. No goal can be met in fitness with a poor diet. but with a good diet you can do anything.
