Jesse’s Gonna Start Juicing

Have you asked yourself if it is time to take steroids In this video I am going to cover the thought process that goes on when someone decides to consider the use of steroids and other PEDs and whether or not it is a viable discussion to have. In this iteration of AX Jeff, we have a question submitted by ATHLEAN-X’s own Jesse Laico. Jesse asks the question of whether or not it is time he should consider the use of steroids to help his training. Noting that he has made significant progress in his strength and physique, he feels left behind. He notes that people he sees at the gym and on social media making more progress than him and that these people are showcasing a greater physique or strength levels. Jesse even notes that if he could achieve even a fraction of the progress they’ve made, he would be happy. Now, this line of thinking is not isolated to Jesse. There are many people out there, especially younger than him and with less training history under the belt that consider the use of steroids and PEDs. Where do these thoughts come from Well, it certainly has a lot to do with the use of social media. There are many out there who abuse steroids and showcase their accomplishments on social media and they are leaving an impression on thousands of people that I think is negative. Some people might accuse me of virtue-signaling a natural status and consider that a negative. I will gladly wear that badge as I believe that the more you can achieve on your own with the assistance of performance enhancing drugs, the more self accomplishment you will have. Maybe you won’t look as big and as lean as who you see on social media, or maybe you won’t be as strong, but there is something to say about being able to achieve what you can without assistance. I think it’s a bad idea to compare yourself to those you see on social media because often, they have a different starting point than you. If you take a look at someone like Larry Wheels, he likely didn’t start at the same place that Jesse did. His mass, strength, and even bone structure is, at a baseline, higher than Jesse’s. Even if he were a natural lifter, he likely would have a greater advantage at growing than someone who started with Jesse’s baseline. Does that mean you are doomed Absolutely not! When it comes to building muscle and gaining strength, I think that it is important to understand that the progress you make naturally is more impressive than what you can do with the assistance of steroids and other PEDs. If you can build muscle naturally, then you can attribute all of your success to the hard work you’ve applied to not only your training, but your recovery and your nutrition. If someone were to start taking steroids, especially early in their training, how much of their success can they attribute to their own hard work Was it them training hard, dialing in their nutrition, and prioritizing their recovery Or was it the extra help that they received I think that if you stave off that desire, you will be more proud of the accomplishments you have made naturally. When you are trying to build muscle, you don’t need to look at what others have achieved in order to gauge your own success. There are plenty of people on the internet that have said Jesse’s progress is nothing to showcase, that they can achieve the same amount of progress he has in a fraction of the time. These people themselves have been influenced by what they see on social media and are likely showcasing their own insecurities. You have to consider the health ramifications that come along with the use of sterodis and not just physically, but mentally as well. Jesse has been public about his struggles with depression and anxiety and we know that the use of steroids can affect this further negatively. There are also the physical health considerations that you have to take note of. This personal decision can have lasting interpersonal consequences. If something were to happen to you, you would not only be affecting yourself, but those that love and care about you. So, before you consider taking steroids, there are some things you need to consider when it comes to your health as well as your own sense of accomplishments. There is nothing wrong with being a natural lifter and I would argue that it makes the progress you’ve made even more impressive. Subscribe to this channel here -

Fantastic videos Guys! Jesse you look EPIC Brother. Stay. natural Steroids are NOT worth it. I did steroids on and off over a decade when i was in The Australian Chippendales around the year 2000 when in was 28 years young. I entertained for 12 years and used steroids on and off.
I had a great solid base physique before using them. At the time i felt and looked Incredible, though it thinned out the hair on my head, leaving a really thin patch on my crown.
Who knows what else it did.
Now i'm 53 and focused on Wholistic Wellness i feel better than ever, my health markers are fantastic and i still have a great physique.
Stay Natural Jesse, you have the No 1 Trainer that. supports you (lucky bastard lol.
PS. Any type of anxiety or depression is ONLY temporary and their are many natural ways of releasing the blocked energy and emotion from the cells of your body.
No need for therapy and going back into your childhood trauma, been there done that. Its a non productive way of rehashing old trauma and it doesn't release it from your body. Connect with Joe Dispenza and start his practises. and attend his live retreats.
Happy to have a zoom with you and share what i did to heal myself.

This is likely one of the best videos you’ve produced in some time, Jeff. Thank you. Not a discussion on the physical but the psychological aspects of proper training. Kudos.
And Jesse, the path to self actualization is long path but a worthy one. Once you’ve achieved it, you no longer concern yourself with what others think about you or comparing yourself and achievements to others. Everything is internalized and you’ll find peace with your decisions and the path you’ve taken.
Sadly, for all the benefits that steroids may provide, we’ve also learned about its dark side too and all the negatives that go along with them. Yes, I’ve been tempted but have never indulged and at 63, even though my testosterone levels are in the dumpster and have been for many years, I still just push through my workouts every day knowing it’s me doing the work, not the PEDs.
You’ve made such incredible progress in your journey so far, and it’s a long journey to go still. Still, it’s your body, your choice. Think long and hard before doing something you may regret in the long run. Don’t take the quick solution. Rarely does that work out well.

Jesse! My little brother from another mother, you've achieved natty PERFECTION! The only next level is Jeff's God-tier, and he's your master! Do you realize how lucky you are! Stay the course dude!
Idk if you're a Star Wars guy like me, but think of it this way: you're a Jedi Knight and Jeff is your Jedi Master. You're one of the best Knights out there and you're working your hardest to achieve more power to become a master. You've got 2 options: stay the long(natty) course with Master Jeff and achieve that Master level that will last you the rest of your life, or go down the dark side path(roids) which will allow you to achieve great power faster, but will shorten your time and leave you weak in the end.
If all else fails, delete your social media accounts. Seriously, they are toxic to our mental health and we all know it. Stay strong and natty my dude!

What about people with muscle disease
I'm 26 years old with LGMDD4, been sick since early teens but i've been blessed with something which was, i always looked normal, i even was able to go to the gym at 12-11 years old and got to look even better, even stronger, however the disease was faster than my efforts, and in now in the last few years i have lost this blessing of looking normal, now i am clearly sick and this lack of privacy made me more insecure, so i am thinking. what if i took steroids, just verrry little of it as much as possible to avoid the side effects, but enough to get my noodles arms, not so noodly, and i'll take any strength gains that comes with it, but my goal is honestly just to look not so sick anymore, not even looking jacked what's your opinion in such case

Jesse, if you want to get bigger, just eat more calories. Yes, you will add some body fat, but you will also add muscle. I spent years as the skinny cut guy, but I eventually found that eating more calories and accepting body fat levels around 10-12% rather than 7-8%, I found my muscle size increased substantially, my energy levels improved, and my strength went up as well. I have the same lanky build you do, and I've found this to be the only way I can add significant muscle. As soon as I do a cut and try to get my body fat back below 10%, the muscle also drops off, as does my energy level. At 10-12% body fat, you will still have visible abs and a good physique because the added muscle will balance out with the added fat.

Two things to say.
1. Jesse has already a very good progress, i would be satisfied to look like that lol. I have been doing exercise for a year and im not even half way to look like that. Thats a very big difference to how he looked before.
2. Even if he (or anyone else) use steroids, the negative comments will never stop, what ppl will start saying if that happens is but he only got there cuz of steroids. And the difference to the negative comments he is getting now, is that if he uses steroids then it will be true and it cant be changed cuz is already done, unlike the negative comments now that are not true and can still be proved wrong because you can still improve even more by yourself.

I've watched Jesse when he was just a skinny little kid and achieved all this muscle naturally, I think that the muscles that are being worked are being built even without creatine protein shakes and especially steroids I think that people that put something in their body are just cheaters when they can build the muscles from scratch just buy working on them I think once you put the steroids or creatine in your body you are cheating what you could have achieved just by working on the muscles every single day this is my opinion (I think soreness, laziness and saying I don't have time to workout are just excuses) not to workout, tell me what you think about this.

Honestly, if I wasn't happy with the size I'd put on my physique, I would temporarily give up leanness WAY BEFORE I would turn to PEDs. Jesse has never even looked close to 20% bodyfat. Bulking is the easiest way to move the needle (no pun intended, and it's basically guaranteed strength gains. No, you wont put on a shit ton of size in 1 go, but slow bulking and cutting will help all of that trend upward, and gaining a little fat won't negatively impact your health much, if at all. Again, all of this being temporary. A real sign of a mature person is the willingness to take a temporary setback in order to make a long term gain.

I'm a fellow skinny and started even lighter than Jesse did, about 10-13 lbs lighter actually. I'm about 10 lbs lighter than Jesse now; would like to gain another 10 but holy cow it's tough.
I don't think he should do it. But it's his life and his body. I've got my T tested twice a few years ago and it was super low, like Try Guys low. I think going on TRT would make a huge positive impact in my life, and the gym part of it would only be a side benefit honestly. I dunno man I just hate to have to take it for the rest of my life. I'm trying to make some changes to see if I can boost it naturally.

Jessie's previous video about mental health challenges really spoke to this 50 year old. I was teased for being skinny in high school and had pectus excavatum (thank you Jeff for your video about this condition. Jessie, keep being yourself. And I figured you were 210 lbs. I so appreciated and benefitted from this teaching/video. Over the last number of years Jeff Cavalier has been my goat. Whether it's injury identification, rehabilitation or workout routines. I have searched and found answers from Jeff's teachings. I better buy some protein powder to pay someone back for all this free advice!

I think I'm gonna start. Everyone I know who did it had there life changed massively for the better. They were all nerds that never got any girls. They did one cycle or two and now they all have casual flings with girls that wouldn't even give them a chance otherwise and they were all financial stable dudes beforehand too. Women are so vain. Look at Arnold. His still kicking strong and he blasted copious amounts. I really don't think one or two cycles could really hurt. Problem is I just don't know where to get them from.

It's all about objective you want to achieve. If it's health - you won't touch steroids. If you want cool pictures for social networks - sure, try. Just don't cry when payback time will come.
After all, if you practice any sport, doesn't matter, fitness, power lifting, running, swimming, climbing, football, etc, one most important muscle you want to keep most fit and healthy is your heart. That's it. While your training keep your heart in good shape - it's a good training. If not - you are doing something wrong.

I use to go to the gym alot then started doing it at home. I see people my age and younger 3 times bigger and lifting double I can and they are all on the gear. Alot of them all started the juice saying they only want to get a little bigger and then stop. then before they know it they are 5 years into using juice and cant stop because they don't want to look small. I have seen guy come in the gym fresh never worked out and in 1 month they are massive and have no real idea what there doing just throwing weight around

You could do all the steroids in the world and you'll still get comments about being too thin. I'm like Jessie, thin, tall frame. Back when I was 135, I dreamed if I could only be 190, then all the you're so skinny comments would stop. I busted my butt and eventually hit 195. I still got the comments. But I know, and that's all that matters to me. Gains are so easily lost. One accident or whatever, and they're all gone. It's not worth long-term damage for something that can vanish so easily.

Jesse, if you take steroids you'll get bigger. No question. But will you be happier You are so much stronger and have such a good physique. But you're not satisfied. Would you be satisfied with another 10 pounds of muscle 20 Prime Arnold wasn't satisfied with his physique and he was winning Olympias. It's a cliche to say it, but it's said so much because it's true: satisfaction comes from what's in your mind, not what's in the mirror. Body dysmorphia isn't cured by getting bigger. Be strong brother.

I know being 5'-9 and graduating highschool in 1992 being 120 pounds. In my early 20's I really considered using, however what always stopped me was the side effect of shrinkage in certain areas of my body. Now that I'm older and I see the effects of my hero's of body building in the late 80's early 90's I'm so glad I didn't do it. I'm so glad I'm now 50 years old and my joints don't hurt and I can get around really good. I may not be jacked, but I'm content with being some what healthy.

The problem is even health influencers like Thomas DeLauer used to use steroids for a quick transformation. And his success kind of makes it a sensible route for some. Face it: If you start in your thirties, you might look like DeLauer in ten years, but not even then probably. Life is short. I personally would never use it, but I am not looking for a massive body, I like to play Basketball, ski, surf and mountainbike, you need a lean body for all of that.

You should include some training of resistance, not physical but mental. Mark Manson has some great articles on his website (in a no nonsens way of explaining, your biggest weakness will always is letting other people dictate how you feel about yourself. The more you are able to just do, and stop thinking the more free you will become.
Also look at Dr. K (HealthyGamerGG) for some good meditation practices and general advice on mental struggle.

reply

Jesse, stop whining around about missing some gains. You've made great achievements while being clean of steroids. You won't become the next Ronnie Coleman and Arnold Schwarzenegger anyway, even on steroids, due to your Physik/Genetics (and if you do you won't be able to leverage it like they did. So, there's no real point. And I think that you would definitely lose the biggest chunk of the audience of Athlean-X if you get on steroids.
reply

The reason people take it is because they are not satisfied with how they are after training. But that won't change when they using it.
It's your mindset, nutrition, enough sleep, no stress and consistency with training wich will lead you to long term great physique. Good video guys! Especially the point of how many died and how much those friends and family will suffer from the loss.
Stay safe and fit out there!
