Videopad is not free. You get one use before you have to buy it - I just uninstalled it for that reason - switching to Open Source Open Shot which appears very much like it. Both of those programs are much like original Windows Movie Maker with the transitions - which Microsoft removed from Windows 10 Movie Maker. I was happy with all the features they had on XP and Vista. Windows 7 Movie Maker wasn't nearly as easy and Windows 10 Movie Maker is useless. No transitions or fades. Don't know why they ruined it. If you used Windows Movie maker before, you'll know how to use Videopad and I suspect Open Shot as well - the layouts are pretty much the same. Will find out tonight when I work on a project. Shotcut is not truly open source. To avoid ads you have to purchase it from Microsoft. Open Source programs don't usually have ads.

sad I downloaded Shotcut it is a good video editing software however my issues with it is it lags whenever I add an effect to my clip and adding music to the mix is disastrous! I was in the process of editing a beautiful nature video when I added music it caused the program to crash. I'll admittedly say that my laptop may be to blame. I suggest to anyone give it a go, I've seen both good and bad reviews where people say they have ZERO problems where as others like myself have lag and crashing issues. Oh and by the way its pretty user friendly so no issues there if you know how to do the basics with editing software. Blah! I'm pretty disappointed that it didn't work for me it was very promising for it being free!

I want to be able to just put audio over a track. For example if I was playing xbox and I recorded a video and uploaded it to Onedrive, how do I use my phone only? Let's pretend I have no PC. A good editing tool for an android might be in my face... they make their money with ad revenue if they can get enough downloads, or 'add ons', why not just call it that. There's free games with add ons and currency the game developers trick us into thinking is actually of value so we buy. The bored mind seeks stimuli, especially when it's addicted - Tomas Downer

Hi Can anyone give me advice on removing text at the bottom of a youtube video. I like to down load and save music related videos with the artist performing their songs. Unfortunately the title, video producer and comments are also shown at the bottom of the downloaded videos, which spoils the effect I want. I just want the artist with their video. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've got a question that has to deal with trimming and shortening a video. I've tried to shorten a video into just a few seconds of a clip and it runs fine in the program, but when it comes time to export it and I replay the file it's very choppy when it first starts playing. I've followed the tips relating to video and codec. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regarding the tutorial - What if your video file already has audio on it? Do you need to re-import it to the audio track, or will it just play the audio natively? Can you cut the audio off the vid? Will it layer together, such as if I record something like gameplay with audio, and then record a commentary track, will I be able to overlay the audio commentary over it?

How the hell do you download Shotcut? Everytime I try to download it, but there's a lady that talks and keeps telling me I have to download google extensions that arent even related to an editor. I couldnt even download it because my security wouldnt allow it to download an extension because it noticed malware. So I ask again how the hell do I download it?

Is there any free pc programs that can make audio-only videos? Like a voice over with a background photo? And are there any that let you export without paying? Because I got one recently that was free bu you couldnt export at all without paying for a membership thing. All I want to do is make audio-vids for my friends to listen to. lol

I tried shotcut, and I couldn't get my videos on the timeline, except once I got one stretched out so only the first few seconds showed. I restarted several times to get out of a mess, just trying over. It made one video stutter, and later I found all the video clips for my project gone off the disk. So it gets an F- from me.

thank you so much I was told blender would be a useful one for free and it is very not functional. For instance, changing blender's file path for storing temporary files doesn't actually change it. So my tiny solid state for my operating system was being filled up with large temporary files despite changing the setting.
