Watching carefully I notice when removing the blemishes and using the spot healing brush. if you watch very carefully you'll notice it eliminates the blemish but replaces it with a patch that has not texture. Watching further, it does this every time he heals a spot. I'll stick with the clone stamp tool and pick my clone source, and if there is a variation in color just fix it in the Frequency Separation group. kind of the point of the FR group anyway yes?

Hi PIXimperfect. I have a problem using the lassoo tool to select an area of skin near a hard boundary like a hem or strap or hair line. Where the colour of the fabric or hair is much darker or lighter than the skin, the blurring brings a lighter or darker shade into the selected area. This still happens when I reduce the selection feathering to 0. Any idea how I can get around this? Many thanks for your tutorials, btw!

Hi! Your tutorials helped me a lot. But I have a question, though. I follow every single steps. But when it comes to blur the skin tone image, the lassoe-d circle isn't blurry. It's darken. The more I increase the blur the darkerr the circle is, like a birthmark. And yet the pores is still visible.
Then I tried the details step, the healing brush creates a red trails like lava.
Please help.

If you are using the Details Layer to remove / reduce Wrinkles - why not use it to remove Blemishes - there is nothing wrong with what you did it just seems odd to do Blemishes on a separate Layer. Also you forgot to mention that when working on the Details Layer with the Clone Tool / Spot Healing Brush or Healing Brush it must be set to Current Layer

I think this has to be the best tutorial on frequency separation I have seen. Others have so many extra (and unnecessary) steps, while this one gets quicker and better results. Awesome!

Your tutorial was just what I needed. My photoshop skills have done so much better because of your tutorials. My skills have moved to a new level.

Is there a reason you made a copy of the background for Blemishes instead of making a new regular layer and using that and sampling current & below?
reply

because in blending is to subtract and not add, because in many videos I see the same technique but with adding, scale equal to 2 and offset to 0.

I have just come across the this old video of yours and thinking how much progress you have made till today btw huge fan of your tutorials.

Why is it when I use the healing brush tool on the details later, it just paints on some harsh brush stroke instead of the sampled area?
