Will Nintendo Games Ever Come To The PC?

Adam brings in gaming expert Brad Shoemaker from Nextlander to talk whether or not Nintendo will ever release games on the PC. This could be a short video... Nintendo has a 100% legal monopoly on Nintendo games. Why would they break their own monopoly and give people a reason not to buy one of their consoles?
The frustration I have is, I wish they would support more of their legacy content. Games that haven't been available for a while, on any recent console. While I can't condone piracy, I do understand the mentality at least, if the only way to play certain games is to find a bootleg, well, you do what you gotta do.

The console market space is very limited, you reach out to more ppl especially within the pc space. Everyone's dad, uncle, and even dogs+cats have a computer today regardless of the spec. I see Nintendo will join in soon.
People keep forgetting consoles don't make money. It's the software sales that keep these companies afloat. I've always did say I'll stop emulation on pc if Nintendo would start releasing games on PC even via through their own launcher.

I have a new take on this. I don't want them to. Their consoles, have always been easy to emulate, they're 'the best' games to emulate, so I don't want their games to release to PC, as that may take away from the emulation scene significantly, removing preservation efforts, not just for Nintendo but for others too, yeah I'm happy to get their games for free and play them at higher resolutions and frame rates.

No Nintendo has its head up its butt and is the lone Japanese dev\pub at this point that still doesn't get that making PC versions doubles their profit, and its a separate market from consoles they'd rather ignore that extra money. The opposite of Sega and Capcom who have had PC releases since the 90's. Nintendo won't change, not unless hardware sales taper off for them.
reply

Nah, not any time soon. They're so wildly successful and have been absolutely killing it with the switch. As much as I'd like it to happen I genuinely don't see what their incentive is. Who knows, in 20 or 30 years they might go the way of SEGA and it will happen then, but as long as they've got their very popular and lucrative walled garden, they'll be sticking to it.

Sony also sees how XBox platform is compatible with PCs. Sony is already losing a potential share to PC Users who already buy and use XBox products.
Nintendo consumers are a different type of gamer. A consumer who is on a Sony, will more likely consider Xbox (or vice versa), Meanwhile the PC is the common denominator.

Nintendo don t need anyone else. They ve proven this time and time again. Sure, they plop out a dud from time to time, but in the last few years we ve seen the DS, 3DS, Wii and Switch. Gigantic consoles. Sure, they need to modernise, but the rest of the industry need Nintendo a lot more than they need them.

Nintendo should release on PC. Their games would be able to finally run at their full frame rates, without resolution scaling, and perhaps even better rendering distances. People would gladly play for those games at a superior experience. Until then they re missing out on additional sales.
reply

If the sales figures are correct then Nintendo will never release their games on pc. Nintendo is the only one that actually makes super duper big bucks on its consoles and games so there is no reason for them. According to the Sony leaks not a single game have sold as good as Nintendo games do.

Good video guys. I like the topic based videos like this. As long as the topic is worth talking about.. I'm born and raised Playstation and PC but would love to play some Nintendo games, and i'm sure i'm not the only one. Maybe they don't want to earn money, maybe they have enough.

Nintendo fans are loyal . I use to be one. I still like the idea of a good Zelda or Mario game, but after the Wii, before the Wii U, I started getting back into PC games. I will never own another counsel. If they want my money, they know where to find me,... On my PC.

I think it s inevitable but it ll come at a cost like how it does with mobile like maybe an online only pc game like how they do it with their mobile games which sucks I d pay a premium just to play online games offline or a mode etc.

It will very nice to have more kids games to play at PC. They are some over there but it will be better have Super Mario. I use the snes9x and I was playing it with my kid, but the screen back them was not widescreen.
reply

I would love for that to happen, but new leadership amenable to the idea would be needed and console sales would have to drop drastically across multiple consecutive generations. Possible, though not probable.
reply

My prediction is if they ever come to pc it would probably be some crappy game streaming service with old games missing most of the classics. Basically a stream version of the Nintendo online service

Ninspendo games on PC. Another device to get the same game on, and also pay for.
Paying multiple times for the same game you already have. Same game, different device.
No thank you

I have an armchair theory that Microsoft and Nintendo are going to team up in some fashion. Perhaps a Nintendo phone? I wouldn't be very surprised if 5 years down the road it happens.
reply

I could actually see the streaming aspect. It's the perfect way to give everybody a thing that we've been asking for in the worst possible way. The ultimate Nintendo move.
reply

It's already on PC, they can either give up and give consumers what they want or keep to bespoke hardware that will get emulated, losing them sales in the long run.
reply

But Nintendo is getting destroyed by ps5 steam deck new iphone15 and many others. If Nintendo next console flopped it's definitely game over for Nintendo.
