Folding phones like the Huawei Mate X and Galaxy Fold are the next big thing, but here are three obstacles they need to overcome first. Shot on a Canon C100 Mark 2

Disagree with all three points.
1. Screen Glass. That's a completely subjective thing which doesn't effect functionality. Further. many, if not most, people put a plastic screen protector on their screens anyway. Clearly moving your finger on plastic is perfectly acceptable.
2. Battery Life. It's good enough to get you through a day of mixed use. 4 hours or so on the tablet, plus 4 hours on the phone. If you are working on the tablet longer than that, you are probably into non-casual use and can either plug in or carry a battery.
3. Usability. I think you have it backwards. A folding 12- tablet is useless. I have an 8- tablet and a 12- tablet and I almost never bring my 8-. Why? Same reason I don't bring my 12-, it won't fit in a pocket and I don't want to carry a shoulder/backpack around with me. So. I have to guess if I need a tablet and then lug one around. Even then, a folding 12- would be about the same size as a double-stacked 8- and still doesn't fit in my pocket, so I'd be carrying a should/backpack anyway. Maybe for women, it would fit in a large purse, but for men. you can easily put a thin 12- into a shoulder/backpack as you can two 8- and chances are you'd want a mouse, keyboard, cables, etc. with you anyway. My Surface fits in my tiny shoulder pack. Carrying a smaller shoulder pack isn't the issue. it is the fact I'm carrying anything which I can now leave, have stolen, don't have hands free, need to take off when sitting, etc, etc.
The folding 6- phone to 8- tablet is useful. It still fits into my pocket, so it can be with me at all times. There is no penalty for carrying it. Fits in the same pocket as my current phone. 80% of the time, I'm fine using it as a phone. However, those times when a web-site or task is just too difficult on a 6- screen. an 8- will do. Watching videos, filling out a form online, working with simple office documents, etc. I'm not likely to be doing hours worth of work -- otherwise I'd have planned that and lugged around a pack with a full-sized tablet.

Mate X cannot be the rival to Galaxy Fold
Most of the current smartphone has a protective glass (i. e, No scratch)
However, all the bendable screen is made of plastic which is weak to scratch.
Samsung already tries the outfolding style and already developed it a few years ago.
Then, they realized that they are too weak for scratch and wrinkle on the screen.
That is the reason it spent so many years for Samsung to make infolding screen
The inflolding screen is much harder to make than outfolding.
Outfolding phone is not a future
Infolding screen is the future of new display.
Please don't compare Galaxy fold to Mate X.
Galaxy fold is on a different level.

Huawei's design is simply smarter: re-use camera on both side to remove notch. re-use screen on both side so you can have a full screen while folded. Samsung's design is basically unusable while folded. On Huawei's design, you get notch-less full display both folded and unfolded. On Samsung's design, you get a notch display while unfolded, and a tiny screen while folded. Samsung probably has better technology, but Huawei's design absolutely crushes Samsung on this one.

As of February 2019, I would agree that I think there is more practicality in a big 10inch / 12inch tablet that could be folded to save space for example for transport, rather than a mobile phone than could unfold with a bigger screen.
On a day to day basis, I have doubt that a mobile phone with a flexible display would be practical for consumers. However, for some business use cases, it might bring some value.

Hauwei looks good but not practical. Samsung looks not so good but it's practical for long term use. Outside material is also premium for Samsung. If I have to spend 2600$ on a phone that is prone to screen scratch and crease, that is definitely a no. Samsung also looks not so ready to reveal their phone with such huge notch and bezel.

Thank you for being honest. Unlike those other famous tech youtuber who just end up being a sales person of the product they are reviewing.
As far as i Remember plastic screen was on a PDA. So basically you pay thousands for old tech.
And i am sure you will see wavy screen. When it got folded and unfolded for several days.

Pioneers are not perfect. It is rather unreasonable to expect so. I believe you are raising valid points but it does look like you are hitting hard on innovation. For me, that phone looks absolutely gorgeous. If the first generation fails there will be no second third generation mind you

I think that, on the 3rd point, Samsung is aware of it and so they consciously made the other screen small enough so that the larger screen will look like it really adds more value just by being significantly larger. I mean, they could have easily fit a 6+ inch screen, but they didn't.

This is not a mature tech by any means. And Android apps for tablet is far from optimised if they-re optimised at all. I think they-re put out prematurely. No ones gonna line up to buy it unless they want to own bragging rights. It-s not value for money at this moment. No doubt.

Honestly this was a good video. I think the idea of a small tablet that turns into a bigger tablet, like an iPad mini that becomes an iPad Pro sized tablet, would genuinely be a good idea
