Working Remote with a NAS - Chris Titus Tech
video description
Considering which NAS to buy, as Google has just said that from next summer, it is no longer free to store photos and video. But would like the smartness of being able to back up photos on the go, as well as see photos that are no longer in the phone's own warehouse anymore.-
Have considered a WD My Cloud Home WDBVXC0040HWT but do not know if it can do it all?-
Thanks for your great videos :)

Since my switch to Linux a couple of months ago I'm very frustrated about not being able to mount my WD MyCloud NAS via Dolphin in Manjaro whereas it mounts without issue via macOS and I've yet to figure it out-WD (devices and support) seem to _not_ be Linux friendly and I think I might transfer all my files to a Synology device, wipe the WDMyCloud and trash it-or go Office Space on it and send it to Western Digital.

Got a 2 disk Synology a few years ago its never missed a beat even when one hard drive went AWOL, just wish I had got a higher spec version, its so good as a all-round package, links up to my security cameras, files, TV, no problem, really is great software inside, if you are looking for a NAS as a first time user I would recommend a Synology NAS and at the moment its still worth the dosh :-)

Hey Chris i have question. The last desktop setup i had with Manjaro Linux/Ryzen 3 w/ integrated graphics had a lag problem while using Kdenlive (audio wouldn-t sync with video when play/pausing preview). I am building a brand new setup, will using an intel processor provide with different results? Hardware suggestions for video/photo editing. Thanks in advance

In 2014 a lot of Synology users got hit by ransomware called Synolocker. I disconnected my Synology from the internet right away never to connect it again. I only use my NAS locally now which limits its functionality. Can you give some advise on how to keep ransomware from infecting the NAS? For example: do we need a dedicated firewall like you seem to have?

I actually bought WD My Home Cloud NAS but very disappointed it because it lacks so many features and very decent web gui. The Windows and Mac client app are horrible and drain so much power. Now, I regard it but when I bought it couple years ago I actually didn't did as much of research but now I really wanted to get Snology Drive now.

I use Synology for about 12 years now, first a one bay, now a 4 bay with 12Tb dedicated space (RAID10 pool) and I still love it, pretty much all the audiofiles I'm working with are there, and administration, like a map with ongoing invoices, or handled invoices are there. Very recommended. And great after sale services too.

I use Syncthing, and it's so convenient (at least for me), as it allows me to selectively sync files across peers, using UIDs. A plus thing is, as it's peer-to-peer syncing, it can sync automatically across the internet, and the files are also ready to be accessed anytime.
What do you think about Syncthing?
